Ah, well you should never judge just from one thread. SarEl is probably one of the least aggressive people on this board. She is assertive, confident, educated and knowledgeable though.

How about a club bouncer or security? No idea how well (or not!) it pays but just a thought!0

What an unpleasant, aggressive individual.
The chap just wants some advice with a prospective new job, if you are unable to be constructive then please refrain from posting.
How, other than in your mind, is this unpleasant or aggresive? Being intimidating or aggresive in debt collecting is against the law. So being a "big lad" or having knowledge of "boxing" would be irrelevant. Both infer an intent which is contrary to the law in terms of the collection of debt. So if you know nothing about the law on collecting debt, please refrain from posting.0 -
The one and only time that debt collectors came to my home (I didn't owe the money, had explained it several times, and it was a utility bill error!) they didn't need to worry about either a "kicking" or the two large dogs I keep. They did have to worry about whether their employers would bail them out after I had them arrested! Never trespass on the property of, or threaten, a lawyer!
If you think being a big lad and boxing are useful qualifications, then you are entirely unsuited to this line of work. Find something else.
I doubt it was a utility bill error. Unless they stormed inside your house without your permission and refused to leave you can't convict them for trespass. Knocking on your front door to ask for payment is not trespass. How were you threatened? Did they threaten to assault you? Can you prove it? Demanding for payment on the belief they have evidence you owed money does not qualify as threatening behaviour.0 -

Gotta love a "newbie" :rotfl:0 -

You haven't had much experience with utility companies have you? :rotfl:
British Gas periodically sic debt collectors onto me for a debt run up by tenants who left the house over eight years ago - before I even bought the place! Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
