Which vacuum cleaner should I buy?

But who says the ones you see dumped are new? Dysons have been on the market for more than 20 yerars now. There are many million in circulation, therefore each year many thousands will be scrapped.
It's like going to a car scrapyard and deducing that the Ford Fiesta must be a rubbish car because a lot have been scrapped!
And many of the Dysons that are dumped simply need a change of filters to make them good as new.
My dyson is over 10 years old. In that time I've had to have a new motor but that cost less the replace than buying a brand new vac and its still going strong.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I don't think it picked the dog fur and associated dried in mud anywhere near as good as my old Dyson, so I sold it and bought another Dyson - which I'm so much happier with.
Were you using the turbo head? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Yes - I did use the turbo head, was really disappointed with it - I had expected better.
Oddly enough the woman who bought it fom me ran a cleaning business and she couldn't see past Miele. Needless to say she was delighted with her purchase and I was glad to see the back of it
Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper .

I have a Henry which is reliable and in my view very well designed. The bag system is good and easy to use. The hand-cranked cable mechanism means that the cable is much longer than the spring-loaded retractable cables you get on most other cleaners. I can clean my whole house from a single power point. The only thing I do not like is the stupid face on the front. But you cannot have everything.0

I've just bought another Dyson to replace the Vax I had in between this one and the last one.
My original Dyson was the DC03, which we had second hand and I never had any issue with it - I passed it onto my mum, who still uses it.
I bought a Vax upright to replace it. Absolutely rubbish - didn't pick up very well and was so loud it left my ears ringing. After 18 months I went back to a Dyson - a DC25 - and honestly wouldn't use anything else. Love the onboard tools, and that you can simply pull out the wand and use (the Vax needed to be switched off and pipes rearranged before you could use the attachments).0 -
I actually ditched my useless dyson which was forever breaking down for a vax and I love the vax so much better and only cost £60 Vs the 200+ for a dyson. Sounds like everyone has their personal preferences

Vote for Miele Cat and Dog awesome suction, still also have dyson animal quite good but not a patch on the Mieles - and the tools are brilliant especially the high level duster for picture rails ceilings etc.
Old books on housework recommend dusting the walls and ceilings weekly dont achieve that standard but a good idea to do regularly because of open fires - and Miele makes it almost pleasant.0 -

I want to know what happened to the old cat and dog heads? Almost Exactly the same as the turbo heads I think, but perhaps just my imagination that they were slightly more robust?
In any case, it's still the best for us, but not sure I would spend so much without the pets. In fact, pretty certain I would not. And I don't think they look as fun as disowns, but I do think they are great at what they do.
Our carpets are horrid, horrid and at least forty years old and the miele makes them almost respectable and certainly clean feeling, which is some feat IMO.0 -
I bought a dyson in the sale about 5 years ago and i wont ever buy a different make now.0

We have a Henry. They are quite robust - ours even survived falling out of the back of our car and being dragged around a round-about by his flex (OH hadn't shut the boot properly). The only downside really is that he has bags - I buy a cheaper version from Morrisons, which are fine.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0
