So true Ilona, we saved up for a new hoover, took us a while but when we had enough money went and bought the Henry.
I wouldn't go into debt for one.

I used to have a Vax, and I agree they are awful. When I took it to the dump a woman working there said the vacuum cleaners they get dumped the most are Vax and Dyson.

I bought a Sebo Airbelt K3 Vulcano (it's a cylinder vacuum and bought on the recommendation of someone on the tech forum), and it's brilliant. I think you get what you pay for with German products.

Which might be connected to the fact that Dyson is the biggest selling brand in the UK.
In the case of Vax of course, it's just because they're carp.

  • Miele Cat and Dog every time. I clean for a living in various homes, so get to use Dyson, Henry and Miele throughout the week.

I also have one at home - super suction, lightweight, retractable cord, great for asthma sufferers due to the charcoal filter and just drag it around behind you. LOVE IT!

    Pricey, but well worth it.

Henry is okay, but heavy when full. Dyson is pants.

You'd expect them to last a good few years though wouldn't you for the price? So there shouldn't be that many dumped.

But who says the ones you see dumped are new? Dysons have been on the market for more than 20 yerars now. There are many million in circulation, therefore each year many thousands will be scrapped.
It's like going to a car scrapyard and deducing that the Ford Fiesta must be a rubbish car because a lot have been scrapped!
And many of the Dysons that are dumped simply need a change of filters to make them good as new.

  • I have 2 dogs and mainly carpet, except the kitchen and bathroom. When my last Dyson died (after many trusty years) I bought a Miele cat and dog and absolutely hated it. I don't think it picked the dog fur and associated dried in mud anywhere near as good as my old Dyson, so I sold it and bought another Dyson - which I'm so much happier with.
Don't try to keep up with the Joneses - Drag them down to your level - it's cheaper . :p:D
