Tesco Clubcard fraud - online vouchers stolen

I am still being told that they will not reimburse me; their reason for this is that a clubcard in my name and linked to my account was used when the vouchers were redeemed. No matter that I still have the card and keyfobs, all still attached to the letter with which they were sent, and unused.
I only use the clubcard which is attached to my Tesco credit card, which has a different number.
I hazard a guess that the person(s) behind this fraud are "recreating" Clubcards in order to be able to spend the vouchers in-store. A simple bit of barcode generating software can convert the 18 digit Clubcard number into a barcode format which can then be printed out onto a small piece of paper and scanned alongside the voucher at the self-service till, thus "validating" the voucher.
If Clubcards relied on magnetic strips or chip and pin, Tesco might have a stronger argument, but they know perfectly well how low-tech and open to fraud their system is.0 -
never thought of that, so did a google and http://blog.suminb.com/archives/10070

Starting to break as a news story
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/feb/18/tesco-clubcard-accounts-missing-vouchers
Given the numbers posting on threads here I suspect Tescos talk of it being a small number of incidents is a load of bull and they are desperate to play it down. The last thing any of the big stores needs right now is another breach of customers trust.
TBH I am suprised the news outlets haven't jumped on this more quickly given the trust issues already because of horsegate.

This may be news to some....but I've always managed to use clubcard vouchers without an actual clubcard. I regularly use my mum's and boyfriend's vouchers (with their permission) and sometimes don't use a clubcard or if I do; I use my own clubcard and I've never encountered any problems.:grouphug:

Sometimes if I check my Clubcard account online I don't see my own clubcard details, I see someone else's - even though I have logged in as myself.
I know whose they are - if my partner was last to check their clubcard account on our shared PC, it will be some of their details I see.
Overall Tesco's security aint that impressive.0 -
Checked my wife's account this morning; the vouchers we have earned are still all there BUT there are 4 different card numbers listed; One is our Tesco Credit card and another is the previous Clubcard which I still have on a key fob, but can't find any record of the other two numbers. I PRESUME that they were "old" numbers which were superceded when the cards ceased to work under the scanners or got lost - but I don't know for sure.
Can't find any way to remove them - has anyone succeeded in getting these disused card numbers removed????0 -

My mum doesn't shop at Tesco any more, she prefers Morrisons so Tesco regularly send her vouchers to try to tempt her back. She gives them to me and I use them with my own clubcard.
It annoys me that I shop in Tesco most weeks and they never send me vouchers. The last one was £12 off if you spend £80.
I've never logged in to get my rewards, they arrive in the post and I use the paper vouchers."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
MSE 1. Tesco 0
Great publicity for MSE and a PR disaster for Tesco.
I wonder if MSE tipped the paper off after Tesco fobbed them off refusing to acknowledge the problem.
They put MSE in a difficult position, as they could not be seen as not acting on their users complaints, at the end of the day they still market themselves as being on 'our side'.
If MSE could have come back to its users saying that Tesco had listened and were going to do something about it maybe it would have not gone to the press.... me wonders...
I expect that MSE don't (or won't) get much affiliate income from Tesco.0 -
Checked my online account as suggested.
I can report all vouchers are present & correct. It even shows the ones I spent in the last 2 years. Surely I can't be the only one?
However, I was surprised at the amount I have unspent. Maybe a trip to Tesco is in order.
As is often said, there is no such thing as bad publicity.0
