Is it the Equinox tomorrow - where has the time gone:o.

Sparkles - well done with your research project - good to see that it's going well. Well done on overcoming doubts - definitely a case of "Feel the Fear but do it anyway".

It is so easy to let fear and doubt hold us back - it does take courage to take a leap of faith but it is worth it in the end.

    Fantastic stuff Sparkles.

    Allie

Your post made interesting reading. It's good to think about what you actually want and then put plans into place. It can be very easy to just drift along, and then, before you know it, your life is half over before it has begun.

My OH was a great one for planning, his 5 year plans were legendary among our friends and acquaintances.....A great source of amusement but he was right - life really is very short. He was uncannily prescient wasn't he.

You really do have to get there and live it to the full and not let it slip by unnoticed.

-Allie I really don't think you are being morbid at all. If you feel that you have health issues, either right now or even just potential issues in the future, you are very wise to start thinking about how to make improvements. It might only take a few tweaks here and there, diet, exercise, rest etc.

Oddly enough my thoughts have been running along similar lines.

Now this sounds very vain, but up until my OH's illness I was generally very healthy and I looked years younger than I was. Although in my mid 50's strangers often thought I was around 40. Now I look in the mirror and it is a very much older face that stares back at me. My body often feels that it belongs to someone in their 80's rather than a 61 year old.

Like you Allie I am determined to reverse some of the damage and try and turn back my "biological" clock. I want to feel strong and healthy and yes I want my face to look less haggard, strained and "old".

On a positive note I have some nice compliments today. A couple of the physios told me I was looking well. I was delighted when I tried some clothes on that had been lurking in my wardrobe because they were too small. They fitted me again :j OK it's just a minor victory but it's something positive and a step in the right direction. I wore one of the tops and a couple of the staff at the nursing home told me I looked really nice.

So some nice moral boosters today.

Well I went to Dunhelm Mills today to buy a new laundry basket. Had a nice mooch and picked up some bargains. A couple of pictures 2 for £6 and a couple of soap dispensers, £5 reduced to £0-99p. :D

Earlyish night for me - get some beauty sleep:rotfl:
  • Morning All. Well I enjoyed my walk in the snow and will do another walk this evening. I also need to dig out some of my old weights as I really need to work on my strength too. My local Community centre is about to open a gym which I may sign up for - it will only cost around £1 per visit after paying my joining fee of £5 (ish). I am up at the centre tomorrow for my craft class so will enquire about it then.

My plan today is to start drinking more water. We have free water coolers at work so there is no excuse really.
  • Morning everyone. I'm fed up with this horrible weather too. Will be glad to wear some nice Spring clothes. Mum still not too good after losing Dad. She's having lots of back and neck pain. GP has now given her antibiotics as well as painkillers. The gym sounds good value allie23. I must try to get to the gym again, haven't been for ages. Glad you're feeling better LL. I've always been told I look young for my age but lately I've been feeling really tired. Anyway have put in my notice to retire so looking forward to spending a bit more time with my Mum. Won't get State pension for 3 years but will manage on work pension and a bit of bank work. I suppose I'm lucky that I can do this as many people will have to work until their late 60s in the future. I don't think I could physically do it and it's very unfair for the government to expect people to work so long.

    Good morning everyone.

Not much news this morning, not quite sure how the day is going to pan out, everyone has cancelled on me. One was a property viewing which has been postponed and I was scheduled to take my niece to the orthodondist. However the poor darling has fallen victim to the novo-virus and is really poorly today.

So I have some unexpected free time. I will make the most of it and pop round to see mum & dad at one point. Before that some bra hunting is required. The situation is pretty critical - what would the ambulance crew say if they saw my dingy shabby bra. :rotfl:

vns - Congratulations on your forthcoming retirement. :T:T I think it's a wonderful idea. You can spend a bit more time with your mum and just take time to do some of the things you want to do. It's your time now......Make it count.

After being reminded that today is the Equinox I was astonished to realise that Easter is upon us. Perhaps it's the awful winter weather just dragging on and on but I seem to have forgotten that spring really is just round the corner.

Anyway the big posh country houses upon up again at Easter, so my plan is to rejoin the National Trust. I do love mooching round country houses and we are very blessed with them this neck of the woods, great for walking round their parks etc.

Now that I'm living on the north side I am much closer to my beloved peak district and the dales so I'm thinking I might become a "Friend of Chatsworth" - it's just like joining the NT.

Membership gives you free reign of the place and invites to all the extra activities. Chatsworth does all manner of activities and has the added bonus of being open all year, so always plenty going on.

This is the summer I start getting out and about.

Ladies - my Third Act is about to notch up a gear.

Right - time to get fabbed up and start the day.

    "Happy Equinox" everyone.

Whadda ya say - time for new thread and some fresh challenges??.

Shall I start a new thread tomorrow, or do you want to do it Bitsy.

Whatever and whoever it doesn't matter.

    "I'm in".
  • I'd love to get cracking on your next challenge I've been lurked & fabbing of sorts in my own ill way

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello all!

Well I have failed miserably at becoming fabulous dharling! Still a frump - my nails won't grow, I've barely lost any weight...

but allie your post has made me think. Once I'm debt free, we plan to start paying extra on the mortgage and could have it paid of before we're 55, maybe even by 50. We want to do this as we're aware that in years to come DH's parents won't be fit/well enough to look after his 2 sisters who both have Downs and will never be able to live completely independently and we will be the one to take them on as we have no kids of our own. We want to be financially secure so that maybe one of us can finish work to care for them.

Can't do that if our own health isn't great.

Allie, you've inspired me to kick my own butt into gear.

I'm in for the next challenge and this time I will succeed!!!!! :)

Wow, thank you. That has made my day knowing I have inspired someone else. I am now calling my healthy living plan my 'Be here in 30 Plan' which I find more motivating than focussing on weight loss.

I am heading up to the Community Centre tonight for a Gym induction at 6.30pm and will probably head over to see my parents afterwards (they live near the centre). Then home to have a face mask and a manicure.

I had a bit of good news on the job front today - I am being kept on until mid-August so that is a couple of months extra. I am hoping to be kept on next year too but there are no guarantees.

Very quick post to wish everyone a Happy Equinox!

I got fabbed up today to go out for lunch: dress, heels, make up etc. DH was very complimentary. I'm obviously doing something right!

Definitely in for a new thread. Got to get that bikini body ready!:rotfl:
