  • Happy Valentines everyone!

Make sure you treat yourself with some 'me' time and fabbing aplenty, if no-one special in your life, do it for yourself! Often we forget about ourselves and need to remember how special and lovely we are!

This evening I'm going to a pilates class, followed by a vino at a mates house (luckily within walking distant)

Hope you all have a lovely day! Ehx
  • Good morning everyone

WW - hang in there girlie, only another couple of days to go and then you'll have a nice break and get to play catch up. You've been working flat out by the sound of it - time to take your foot of the gas.......

And it's time I took my own advice:o

    I'm feeling dreadful.

I still have the most awful between the shoulder blades pain, my elbows are sore, my right wrist is painful. I don't know what I've done.

My digestive system is not happy.

I know there's no real medical problems - it's "just stress" but by golly I feel rough.:rotfl:

Anyway yesterday I managed 1km on my exercise bike and 10mins of stretching - not much but you have to start somewhere.

I am absolutely resolved to get back to better health and fabulousness.

    This is now my mission.

Sadly I cannot do much more for my OH. I will visit him, entertain him and watch out for his needs and make sure he is being looked after properly. Other than that there is nothing else I can do.

I will do what I can for my mum and dad but it won't be much. They will have to go into care at some point and again I will help my sister to oversee their wellbeing.

    I can't be everywhere.

I have done what I can for the time being to sort our my own future. My fiances are ok and I'm comfortable here.

So......for the next few months it's going to be

    focus on me

That sounds more selfish than it is - what I mean is focus on regaining my health and well being.

So just about to have a nice healthy breakfast, prepare a casserole for tonight, do some exercise and then have a bath,
facemask. And then visit OH later.

Last evening did a manicure and made a necklace so I'm getting back on track with the fabbing.

    Getting back in the groove.;)

Lovely post LL and good to hear you feeling so positive. It's a lovely day here:mild and sunny. I need to go into town later and may do some 'Spring' browsing as I've not been near anything but a food shop since last year!

DH surprised me with heart-shaped bread with my breakfast this morning.:) We don't normally make a lot of Valentines but I think I'll make a special effort with dinner. I'm planning duck, dauphinoise potatoes and some nice veg. (was going to be chili from the freezer:o).

Thanks for input on 'good' toiletries. I've decided to use up what I've got and then see where my conscience takes me. I try hard not to buy stuff I don't need but my bathroom cupboard never seems to be any emptier. I've just started using up some Molton Brown (gift from a year or more ago) handwash as a shower gel and it's working fine.

I'm still working on decluttering and have sorted a few drawers this week. Yesterday a load of stubby pencils, dried up pens and other rubbish discarded so my 'stationery' drawer looks pristine.

    Have a good day all.

    .

Dauphinoise potatoes is on our menu tonight - one of my favourites. We're having my own home made Boef Bouginon (I know that's spelt wrong - but I'm in a hurry).:rotfl: and some vino. Oh and I nearly forgot a very posh chocolate mousse (not homade:rotfl:)

Just DS2 and I - he has no girlfriend at present so I'll make a bit of a fuss for him.

Just managed to do a few exercises and a quick lunch and am now off to see OH.

I'm running late because the landlord has been here fixing the garage door. He's a good 'un.:D

I emailed him on Sunday with a list of outstanding jobs and he's been back twice already working his way through them. Nice man.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Hi all,

WW - hope you're recovered today, and have a nice break planned for half term x

    EH - that's a lovely thought :) Hope you have a fun night x

LL - am glad you've realised you to need to prioritise your own health, you can't help anyone else if you're laid up missus! Try and take it easy for a bit and hopefully you'll feel a bit better soon x

maman - that's very sweet of your DH, hope you have a nice meal tonight :) I must get back on the decluttering - did a big effort a few weeks on the main bedroom but put a load of stuff in the spare room to be sorted through later, and yup it's still there :o

We don't really tend to bother with Valentine's Day tbh, I think it's a bit too commericalism - would rather get a nice bunch of flowers on a random day of the year then I know he's thought about himself just because he cares rather then being poked into it by advertising :rotfl:
At least the snow's cleared up and even a bit of sunshine out today - thought still nippy! I have an anthology out yesterday, which I'm rather happy about, didn't think would be for at least another week. Was organised by members of my former Creative Writing group and is a collection of assignments we did for the course.

Was a bit down yesterday, was speaking to my dad last night and still having problems with my grandma. I don't know if I mentioned that she's in a home now, but she's actually been doing a little better - I mean she's not great and it's doubtful she'll ever be able to live on her own again but to say I saw her in hospital at xmas and thought that was it then she's doing a lot better - put a bit of weight back on, even seeming much more 'with it' mentally, though some days are better than others.
The only problem is she's not doing well at nights. She seems to get very confused and anxious when she's on her own and keeps getting out of bed, calling the nurses, even going into other people's rooms. They'd hoped this would improve as she settled in a bit more, but it doesn't seem to be and now they're saying if it continues they'll have to look at moving her to the dementia section of the home. This is really not something any of us want - I don't think she has full-blown dementia by any means, she's not bad during the day, she has moments of confusion but she knows what's going on and likes sitting in the communal rooms and having a chat with the other women etc. We don't know what 'state' the other people on the dementia ward will be in - and I just can't help feeling that if she's surrounded by people much worse then her then it will drag her down. The home has said they will give it a bit long but if she carries on I don't what other options they can provide :(

Anyway, enough of my moanings :o Hope everyone has a good Valentine's Day x

    A quick hello all :j

Been soooo busy. Personal fabbing continues. I'm using up sample/travel size face masks that have been knocking around a bit too long. Quick finding is my skin doesnt like gel masks. Anyway another one used up :)

I'm going to make a concerted effort to relax a bit more.

    Have a lovely evening everyone

    Hi All

We had mum's funeral yesterday, it was as lovely as it could be, she had a great turnout, she would have been very cross that she couldn't of been there to see all her family.

So now its time to mend me, I've let myself go over the past 4 months and I'm really feeling it. But i'm going to take it slowly and give myself time to piece my broken body and heart back together.

To start with I will make sure that I eat properly, its been total junk especially the last couple of weeks and it really does show.

At the weekend as its meant to be nice, it will be a walk in the countryside.

I will then look at having my hair done, so need some colour as I'm starting to go very grey (only 41).

Then I shall use some of my birthday money for a massage or facial, I haven't decided which yet, my mum passes away 2 days after my birthday so have not had the chance to really think much about what to spend my money on.

The rest will be thought about as I start to feel better.

Many thanks once again for all the lovely words over the past few months its been a comfort.

Take care all, I hope I'll be posting more regulary from now on. xxx

Hewie - I'm glad the very difficult day of the funeral passed as well as it could have done. You're right, you need time to heal now - take good care of yourself. xx

Last day of term tomorrow - thank the lord! Although I am working on Monday and Tuesday doing revision sessions - I do get paid extra for them and the days are shorter. My Welsh clan are descending on me next Thursday for a few days too so no real rest for the wicked.:o

I'm another that has let things slide a bit lately - food has been less than perfect, I really do need to get a grip on this, its a very slippery slope. Sleep would also be good, along with a haircut and some more exercise.

    Roll on Saturday......

LL - mint tea or nettle tea is very effective with digestive problems. Might not totally help you feel amazing but at least you'll be able to tick digestive problems off your list :)

I was (finally!) at the hospital yesterday to have a look into the issues I've been having with my periods. Turns out I have a fibroid the size of a small planet and due to where it's sitting I've two choices:

    1) injections every 3 months to bring on menopause plus potentially HRT. Since I'm 31 I'd have to get these for the next 20ish years until I go into menopause naturally. This would only shrink the fibroid.

    2) get a hysterectomy. They can't remove the fibroid without removing the whole womb.

Since the husbandino and I don't want children this makes the news a lot better for me than other people. I won't ever be able to conceive so I don't have to base my decision on whether that's possible/wanted. Just on what's medically better.
I'm leaning towards the surgery to be honest, at least it's done and over and no injections for the next 20 years.
