Do. Or do not. Do not try. Yoda
This is the really embarrassing bitat the moment I do nothing, nothing at all. In fact I would go as far to say that I am a bit of a couch dweller
In the past I have been through quite a few different types of exercise some of which I enjoyed however they are not practical or affordable now
Due to finances and other things I am going to have to exercise mainly in the home during the week with the chance to walk/run at the weekends at least until the lighter nights come in. I do have a few workout DVDs to keep things varied.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
morning all. Haven't been on for a while as I've had a tummy bug and was off work for a week praying for death. Needless to say I've done no fabbing in that time either!
I'm starting to feel like a human being again and back at work today so might risk 30mins in the gym later.carpe diem

Just a wee question for those who exercise, how long did it take before you started to enjoy it? I am not a fan of it however I keep being told that eventually I will enjoy it and I am just curious as to how long that will take :rotfl:
I enjoy the exercise and I am always glad I have done it ,I feel more energized and motivated.
My problem is I can find 10 reasons not to do it, my back is sore , It takes too much time, I have too much to do. etc etc.
At start of year I said I would do my Wii yoga every day , so far missed 2 daysand its only the 7th........
Do I need it or just want it.0 -

I loathe the gym. It doesn't matter how often I went I still never enjoyed it.
For me it's a question of discovering the things I loved. Netball was one but I don't have the time or evenings to devote to that. Tap dancing was another which I did for 2 years which sadly due to our relocation plans I've had to stop.
I love dancing, boogie in a club or just some good music at home. So Zumba DVD is good for me. Or just sticking the iPod on at home and having a dance about in the privacy of my own home.
This morning I am shortly taking a long but brisk walk up to local shops to visit the bank etc. I will plug myself into my iPod, get some favourite tunes going and stride away. I don't believe exercise has to be formal, I like variety so energy of dancing vs calmness of yoga.
Now I just need to make the time to DO it :eek:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Urgh, had done a very long post and then lost it all so can't be bothered rewriting it now
Just wanted to say to Lizzie though, have you looked into whether you might be able to get an occupancy order? You have to apply through the courts but I think it goes through quickly - might be worth asking CAB or Women's Aid about it? Also, do you have any family you might be able to stay with short term - and would this help your standing with the council in terms of housing allocation? If you're having to stay on someone's couch, for example, then surely it puts you at a higher priority.
Rummer - I must admit I'm the same, not a big exercise fan at all. I keep thinking I must start trying things like dancing, swimming etc again that I used to enjoy more but with lack of time and money it seems to end up with a dvd in the house which isn't very exciting!
Anyway, still not sleeping - feel like death warmed up this morningI just don't understand it, I feel exhausted all day then I seem to come round in the evening and when I go to bed I just can't drift off. Just want to go home and sleep right now. Didn't get much work done yesterday, did pop into town though to spend my clothes voucher from xmas - got a nice teal green (new colour for me!) jersey tunic and a plainish grey top for work/under jumpers etc.
Getting distracted by new random writing things againSome people from my old creative writing course are looking at putting together an anthology, with everyone contributing a piece or two, which sounds interesting. Think most people are using assignments from the course anyway so shouldn't need to write anything new - just dig out and maybe tweak a bit. Have also seen a call out for another anthology for short pieces (and I mean very short, about 3k words) on historical or fact based fiction with an emphasis on strong female characters. There's an idea I've had in the notebook for a while about a story very loosely based on a true story about a mining disaster in the 60s in my home town - one of the people consistently mentioned in regards to the day was the nursing sister on site, who being the only qualified medical person there, donned equipment and went into the mine to help the injured and dying inside. Ironically the poor woman was later disciplined for it as women were 'not allowed' to go underground. Would probably need quite a bit of research though and not long until the deadline... hmm.
Anyway, should go do some work I suppose, hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Gosh! that will teach me to take a couple of days off.
This thread is really moving fast. I have managed to click thanks but, cannot remember who posted what
LL, pleased to hear you are settling in well, take care of your back and neck!
Pod, don't be afraid get those scales and jump on, that's what brought me to my senses!I hope you sleep better tonight.
Bitsy, I loved to play netball at school, only sorry I did not continue as an adult:( I like group/team sports. Years ago the Rosemary Conley slimming clubs always had exercise after the weigh in. Are her clubs still running?
Skating on ice seems to work, have you seen a donkey on skates :rotfl:
Well done to all that have lost weight.
Welcome to all newbie's.
Get well soon to all that are feeling poorly.

Don't you just hate it when that happens

That sounds really interesting, gook luck if you decide to do it:)0 -
Hello all....
Can I join? I've been reading through the posts, and think I could do with a little fabbing up myself!! I do take good care of my hair, skin etc and treat myself to nice toiletries, perfumes...
But I think my clothes are a bit frumpy and I could do with a bit of a wardrobe re-vamp! I've got quite a few lovely dresses and can scrub up quite well, but day to day I feel so bored with my clothes!
I also need to start exercising and eating better. I am lucky that I'm not overweight, but I could do with firming up my tummy and thighs.
Rummer...I also hate exercise, but I feel I'm going to have to force myself to the gym or some classes. Hopefully when I see the results of the exercise, it will motivate me to keep going. I will just need to drag myself for the first few weeks!!All you need is less0 -
First day back at work today - felt like I had never been away by 10am. A long day was compounded by a 2 hour pointless meeting after school, just what you need on the first day back.
Anyway, I was starving when I got home and thankfully had remembered to take a thai red curry I'd made last week out of the freezer so food was ready in 3 mins (used frozen rice too) - stopped me eating biscuits as soon as I walked through the door. Will have to make myself make extra portions for the freezer more often.
Rummer - I think walking with music on is a great way to get started with exercise. I'm another that enjoys it once I get going but can often find an excuse to put it off.
Pod - I think you should write the mining story, if not now at some point in the future - it sounds really good.
Bratz - hope you're feeling better now? Sounds dreadful!0 -

Probably around 4 Weeks so long as you find something you like, enjoy, smile and stick at.
As for me, I absolutely forced myself out for a run after work tonight and decided to run 10k for the first time for ages - went ok, not fast by any means 4mins slower than my best last year but glad I did it as I kept talking myself out of it over the weekend. Will plan another one later this week maybe Thursday
