Oh thank you, we've got a huge one here so will go searching today!0 -
Morning all!
Well my plans have been thwarted already today  Toddled off to the pool to go swimming and its full of kids doing their distance badges and shut to the public - gggrrr! Its not usually closed on a Saturday morning.
So went to the supermarket and did the shopping (with a list) and bought absolutely no naughties at all. All lovely fruit and veg - only needed fresh stuff so managed to spend only £10.:)
My knees are feeling a bit sore today so thought a swim would be better than running - will have to rethink, maybe a bit of tae bo and a nice long dog walk instead?
Got another load of marking to wade through (getting mighty fed up of it now) and downstairs could do with a quite whizz round with the hoover (little paws don't help, seem to hoover every other day).
Fabbing wise - defuzz and nails on the cards and getting 5 outfits ready for the week in work - I always feel better when I just have clothes ready "off the peg" to put on in the morning - less hassle and no thinking required at 7am.;)
On a different note - I was watching daytime telly and they were talking about volunteering. Had a look at a website that shows you what opportunities are available in your area and have applied to be an "e-befriender" for a deafblind person. All you need to do is send emails and keep in touch - kind of like a modern day penpal I suppose. Its designed to give a deafblind person some contact outside their normal circle and to develop their communication skills. Will only take 15 mins or so at a time and it could make a bit of a difference. I'm considering another "job" too - but will think about whether I can really commit to the time, don't want to let anyone down.
In case anyone is interested here's the website - www.do-it.org.uk
Right better get on with something - have a good day!0 -
LL - im glad your move went ok and you are all settled in!
everyone sounds so positive with all the goals people are setting!
I've somehow only put on half a pound over xmas! i don't know how with all the food i ate but at least it means i can undo it pretty quickly and get back on track!
DH and i are going to be following the Hairy Dieters way too. we got the book and watched the TV show again and its sunk in with him that if those two can loose weight, he can do it too. we worked out that getting a whole months worth of food from their recipes wont be that expensive either.
also, I've signed up to the great manchester run again and ELLE magazine has started a couch to 5km running club so I'm going to follow that too!0 -
Sounds as if everyone is making fabulous progress :j
WW great news on your weight loss! I am always so inspired by your posts and the amount of exercise you do.
LL Glad to hear the move went well and that your doc has given you the all clear
EH Job hunting can be tiring and sometimes leaves you feeling demotivated. When I was looking I set aside specific time in the day to look and organise applications etc so almost treating my search as a job in itself. Setting fixed hours also meant I worked hard and still left myself time to relax.
More time has been spent with friends over the last few days and it really has left me feeling relaxed and happy. My home is also neat (ish) and that has had a huge impact on me so I am determined to keep it more organised.
Fabbing wise I did the works yesterday as I was going to a party so I had a home manicure, face mask, defuzz and put on my makeup, perfume and a lovely dress. It felt lovely to get dressed up
The only downside to all this socialising is the amount of food I have consumedeverywhere I have gone there has been loads of delicious wee nibbles and you forget how quickly those calories add up :rotfl: so I have decided to relax over this weekend and to get back into a good routine come Monday.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Oooh Hairy Dieters cook book is in the house :j
Guess what I will be reading shortly
Not much fabbing today. Feel a wreck. Tripped over a baby gate (open) whilst half asleep last night (bed hopping between various children) and fell smack in my sidehave carpet burn on one knee and all my up back feel stiff and sore. Gonna have some lunch and pop some painkillers and then walk it off with the dog.

Hello all,
Went to aerobics this morning it was an effort to finish class but i did. I want to lose 1/2 stone before end Feb, got a secondary school reunion! So need to look fab!
From Monday i'm back with a vengeance on the job search and will be up and dressed by 9 every morning! I need to get some structure and routine back. Got temp work in afternoons next week.
Eh xx0 -
Hello everyone.
It was the most glorious day here, really warm and sunny. My new back garden gets lots of sun so I even got to hang some washing out, and managed a little walk to find the local shop.
It's only a short walk but I'd forgotten just how steep the hills can be on the north side of the city. The south side where I lived was all gentle meadows, the north side is more dramatic - a lot more hills, some of which have quite sharp inclines. It will get me fit.
Hope you are ok after your fall Bitsy - take it easy.
My back is screaming today, although oddly enough I'm managing without painkillers. Just resting with my wheat and lavender heatpack at the moment. It's been a while since I've had any physio - just haven't had time so I must try and book an appt for next week. My muscles have really tightened up again.
EH - good luck with the job hunting. I agree it's good to treat job hunting as a job in itself, being organised and following a structured plan. If it's a bit "as and when" then it can stretch out into the whole day and the evenings too and you never escape from it. You do need some breaks and to have an ordinary life - as far as possible. Good news with the temping - you never know it might lead to something.
WW - the volunteering sounds good and you seem very busy (as usual). Look after your knees - training can be hard on the joints. Do you take glucosomine at all, it helps plump up the cartiledge and is very helpful for knees.
I take it and I really notice it if I stop for a while. I've been a bit remiss lately and my knees are starting to bother me a bit, so I must take my own advice.:rotfl:
Fabbing wise - well I tried out my new bathroom this morning, a nice deep bath and lashings of hot water. A nice long soak to ease my aches and pains and get me moving. Lovely. My face feels very sore where it was treated with nitrogen and it looks red and angry, plus of course I still have my black eye. What a picture of radiant beauty:rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway, tonight it's a manicure. My hands look and feel like a bricklayers:eek: My nails and cuticles are all torn and raggedy. Time for a good dose of TLC.
Another dreadful night not being able to sleep, so today I've given in and bought some Nytol. If that doesn't do the trick then I'll pinch Carmen's idea and try a slug of Night Nurse. :rotfl:
Struggling a bit without a proper fridge. New Fridge Freezer being delivered on Wednesday so we are using a mini fridge I used to use sometimes on site. It holds a small carton of milk and a small carton of cream for our coffee and that's it. Luckily the garage is quite cold for veggies and fruit, but obviously too risky for meats or dairy.
At least I've now managed to set up the second freezer in the garage so it should be a bit easier. Amazing how we take things like electrical appliances for granted.
I know life is different now and we don't shop every day like our mothers and grandmothers did, but meal planning and keeping food healthy and fresh is much harder without our modern gadgets and gizmos.
So until next week I can't do a good shop but I'm trying to eat as healthily as I can with what we have. I watched the Hairy Bikers again and I think I will have a splurge and buy the book.
I've decided I also need at least one book-case. My old house had built in bookcases and this house has nothing. I did think I wouldn't bother but despite having a good sort out and taking lots to the charity shop I still have several boxes of "must haves".
We are likely to be here for at least a year so I may as well make us comfortable and organised. I don't mind "camping out" and living out of suitcases and boxes for a few weeks but not for a year or so.
Time for a nap and then cook a nice early tea/dinner. Oven fish and chips, not ideal but healthier and lower in fat than the chip shop.;)
Bye for now....0 -
Good luck with the volunteering WW. I am aiming to get more involved with my local community this year. I used to volunteer with a groups for people with dementia so will see if they need someone again. Also went to the local library today to ask about their adult book group - they are sending some info.
Fabbing wise I have done nothing today. Not even washed my face!! (Did brush teeth, though). Been quite a stressful few days with me taking out my depression (which has surfaced again) on OH. I don't like myself when I am like that to him and had a long chat with him last night and apologised to him and had a chat about what I need to do to get back on an even keel. Planning to do some housework and fabbing tonight. Fab wise I will have a hair treatment, facial and file/polish my nails and de-fuzz legs.0 -
Evilsquid - well done on only gaining half a pound! I'm doing the Manchester 10k too - perhaps we could have a secret "Frump" code - nod, nod, wink, wink:rotfl:
Rummer - glad you had a good glam night out - does us good to scrub up from time to time
Bitsy - hope you're feeling better? You've been in the wars !
EH - good luck with the job hunting. I know its different but when I have the 6 week summer holiday I get a bit lost - I know what you mean about having a routine. Good luck with the temping.
LL - the house move sounds to be going well - hope your face heals soon. You're still gorgeous in our eyes, o wise one!
Will think about the glucosamine - good suggestion.
Allie - I've never had depression but my exOH used to have anxiety and depression so I know how distressing it can be. Hope you start to feel better soon - I'm sure your fabbing session will help. Take care xx
Had a busy day - took advantage of the good weather and took the dog for a good long walk around the water park. He got absolutely filthy and needed a bath afterwards but we both enjoyed the fresh air and exercise. Then cleaned the house (including the wooden floors, the worst job) and made myself sit down and mark half a set of books - only about 15 to go now and every single book for every child I teach (about 200 of them!) is completely up to date:T:T Will last about a week but at least its done for now - bring on Ofsted , I'm ready!:rotfl:Guarantee they won't come any time soon now.
Have a "light" pizza in the oven and a big plate of salad for tea and then will have a nice long bath and finish off my book before settling down for a movie later on.0 -
Today has flown by.
Made a slimming world recipe soup (carrot, coriander, lentils). Well you could have piped it through a bag it was so thick. So I had to be inventive and add things to try and save it. Will not be cooking that recipe again. Someone had warned me that the recipe says far too many lentils so I'd already reduced it by a quarter. If I hadn't have done that I swear you could have built houses with the stuff!
Put make up on for the first time in weeks. I'm going to have a good sort out of my make up brushes. Some are a bit rubbish.
Feeling quite stressed overall. Hubby has been stressed. So I'll be glad to eat dinner and get an early night.
Take care all :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
