You will have to do better than that to wind me up. Sorry not replied earlier but working. If you want me to explain the concept of work i will

Well, Johnny, your work must be a doddle as you seem to spend so much time morning AND afternoon typing angry, opnionated and uninformed drivel. Either that or your boss must be very forgiving.

I was told today that job match is mandatory and anyone who refuses to join will automatically have their benefits stopped. My advisor also said that even if a job that appears in the recommended job section is a long way away to apply for it anyway. If you don't view the recommended job section at all then your benefits can be stopped and she said that someone has gotten a three year sanction for refusing, which sounds very extreme lol!

    Ave All,

I just wanted to place my 2 pence worth into this thread and let you know what my experience with the new UJ site has been like.

First off a little history on me. I'm 30 years old, I've been unemployed since September 2012. This is the first time I've been unemployed in all my working life since way back in May 1999 when I joined the army at 16 from school.

I registered with UJ on 09/12/2012 and not everything has been plain sailing so let me tell you about the problems I've had first.

When I first registered I only had the option to upload 1 CV you can now upload 5. Now some may ask why the need for up to 5 CVs? well if like me your a multi talented type of person who has many traits and different types of work experience you don't want to confuse potential employers with 101 different things within your CV. I Have 2 CVs, 1 for my Chef background and 1 for my background as a Site/Bricklayers Labourer. As I said I was only able to upload 1 CV so I combined both CVs for the one I uploaded. Now that I can upload more I can't, everytime I try the gateway continually times out.

Another issue I've been having is when trying to login, I get an error message and this does happen quite regularly. It doesn't stop me looking for work but what it doesn't do is record when you do apply for work. You have to manually input it into your job search notes when you do manage to login (you get 250 characters to do this)

Other than these issue I have to tell you I personally love the UJ site. I feel it has made my life a hell of alot easier. One issue I had with filling in the written job search was I regularly forgot to do it (i know I'm not the only one). The UJ site has made it pretty much instant for me to record and if its a job where all I'm doing is sending my CV via email well because I've done it whilst on the UJ site I just type in my job search notes "emailed cv to such and such".

What I would like to draw people attention to is no one can view your account unless you tick the little box giving them permission.

"I authorise DWP to view my accounts, including job search activity, feedback and notes"

Bare in mind if you don't give permission you will still have to write your job search down as proof of looking/applying for work. Don't provide proof, don't expect not to be sanctioned.

I'm thankful that my JS Advisor is a pretty sound lass, and being the first of her clients to bother to register and use the UJ site I was privy to seeing her login and finding me via my email address. This was the only information she was able to physically see (I too had my doubts about checking that box). It wasn't until I checked the permissions that she was able to see my application and activity history. If anyone has any major problems with what their advisory can and cant see, tell them about it. They are there to help, and they will show you, remember you can uncheck that box at any time.

If anyone here does use the new UJ site please bare in mind that your advisor is learning the new system just as much as you are, cut them a little slack. It'll take time to iron out the bugs from both ends.

Can anyone else confirm that UJM is now mandatory?

I have to go and deal with the scumbags at StandGuide tomorrow and I need to know where I stand with this.

At the moment it is not mandatory but you can still register on the ujm site, but do not tick the little box giving the dwp access to your personal data.

There is nothing stopping anyone going to other site to look for work, all your doing is recording it on UJM site rather than writing a job search diary. It is not compulsory to find work within the UJ site. Every fortnight my advisory finds 1 or jobs that I can apply for, rather than doing a printout she adds it too my saved jobs within UJM. for me I see this as ease of use. the less paperwork involved for me the better.

@Krok lol I'm in noway brain washed. I understand not everyone agrees with the UJM but I feel that it is in its infancy and there will be large improvements to come. I like the system it's easier for me to use.

This site has nothing to do with trying to find vacancies for jobseekers.

It has one aim, and that is to find a way to sanction you.

If you listened to IDS you would know this. Here is a thread which he states that he will try to trip up anyone who gives the dwp permission to see their ujm data.

As an outsider who has browsed the JCP website for the last 18 months or so looking for a potential opportunity to change employers, I have tio say the new site is complete and utter garbage.

The last one wasn't great but at least you could sort the jobs properly.

I want something closer to home but now there is no way to sort by distance from postcode or area.

The option to choose a certain type of work in the old website was great. I don't want t work in sales, I can't work in certain obs due to disability so being able to search for specific job types was great.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to use that site. As per usual with any Government software implementation, it's a complete and utter farce.

I can see why people are worried about ID theft. From my understanding you have to upload a CV. How secure is the site? What if someone gets hold of your CV. They have your name, address, date of birth, education history, work history and other information that they can use to commit various offences.

I'm just glad I don't have to use it.
