512K ADSL for £10, 2MB for £20 - no data caps

Options
UK Online has announced that it is dropping the price of its 512K ADSL service to £9.99 per month and its 2Mbps service to £19.99 per month (which makes "sense" as the 8MB is now £29.99) with no data caps.

This pricing only applies on exchanges where UK Online have unbundled the
exchange allowing them to use the EasyNet LLU network.

Pricing remains at £19.99 and £29.99 if your exchange has not been unbundled by UK Online.

The list of LLU exchanges that UKOnline already or are planning to offer services on is at http://www.ukonline.net/8000/llu_exchangelist.php

Set-up fee of £25 and free USB modem but it is a 12 month contract I
believe.

See http://www.ukonline.net/ for more details.

Regards
Sunil

Cheers for the info, looks like I'll be switching!

I've been with Wanadoo (previously Freeserve), for over 6 years. Since they went to broadband, I've been on the original tariff on its launch. I would stay with them, but due to a change in the terms and conditions adding a download limit of 30Gb.

The bottom line is that I called them to ask if they would automatically upgrade me to the 1Mb service. Er... the reply, no, as I had to request it! So very customer friendly!

To top it off, the e-mails recieved from wanadoo are filtered by my computer as spam and I only found out by logging in through the internet that I had the e-mail!

Just a bit miffed that, if I did not see that e-mail, I would not have known about the change in terms and conditions.

A good deal for anyone who's exchange is "unbundled" pity that there's so few in Scotland "unbundled". I wonder if and when they will widen the LLU network? Good post & I think my heart rate went up to 2MB for the few seconds I thought 2MB might be available in my exchange! I will keep an eye on their site for updates. Thanks

Must say.. I have been with them for around a fortnight and everything has been great. fast reliable connection and customer service is excellent. I still had problems with BT today who decided to charge me for another month even though I migrated to UKOnline. They said they had not recieved notification that I was leaving them. I thought the fact I was now at 8MB instead of 2MB and could no longer access my BTYahoo connection might have persuaded them but it didnt. Called UKOnline customer service and they were busy. Left my name and number on the answering machine and got a call back 20 mins later. Women then put me on hold and sorted out everything including a refund.

    Excellent

Is that 9.99 for 512K plus vat? If so they are not the first to offer this - as EFH from late last year until this month when it ends though with price caps for a year from when you signed up - and theirs was also uncapped with min 3 month contract althogh startup costs were more as well.
Even so, this is good for all as it should help to keep prices keen though hopefully not at the expense of service.

Ive been trying to persuade my parents to get broadband at home for absolutely ages now, and thanks to UK online it almost works out cheaper than having dial-up!! yes my home is still on dial up, but have just ordered UK online half meg line with no download limit! I just hope its all hassle free and decent speeds!

ive also got my parents to do the 18866 business to cut down the phone bills, seeing as the last bill was over £150 and they werent best pleased (i take no blame for this, i dont live at home most the time - im a scummy student). With all the changes they should be saving at least £50 a quarter, with the added bonus of broadband too! how good am i!

Jollux - Did you really mean - how good is this site !!!
For those interested in the UK Online offer - beware it is a data stream service, which means if you switch ISP's you will be out for a week. See also my post on another thread at : http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=449930&postcount=139
This thread has some very interesting info as well !!

Why would you be out for a week? I was out for 11 minutes going from BT.
