Can I make a suggestion for the MFiT gang?-

are DD and Tallgirl thinking there is a need to cap the MFiT 'official list' that gets updated at 100?

Nothing to stop other people joining in the discussion and updating their signatures- but perhaps if people drop off the original list for whatever reason then the people on the waiting list could be added- it just seems like an awful lot of updating for TG to do if people keep joining.

Feel free to shoot me down if it's a bad idea....but to commit to updating hundreds of names every month for the next 2years 8 months is a lot to ask of tallgirl.

Hi All just got back from 3 days business trip and logged into this again. Wow 8 PM's - cool - I can update them in no time. It is lovely to see the balances coming down and I love your little top ten hit list.

However reading through the list of people saying I have put it in my signature it is just impossible -with over 80 names I am sorry but I can't match things up with my chart if you don't PM me. I think it is great we all report on the thread but if you want to go onto the chart or be updated I can only realistically do that if you PM me. Next update will be 5th August and then I might just do it every 6 months.

I agree we might need to cap the list. I personally can't see the point of joining a pay your mortgage off in 3 years 1 year in? Maybe if people really want to do it they could start a new quest next year. I think it is a good idea to take people off the list in the first post if they don't update but please don't change the quest numbers or I will be really lost.

Anyway doing quite well myself, paid off £4400 since 1.04.07 something I would not have done otherwise so thanks fellow MFI3.

I agree with capping the list once we're well into the challenge. As I said on an earlier post, it kinda dilutes the "community" feeling when people turn up, ask to be added to the list and then are never seen again.

We're moving into month 4 of the quest shortly, so should we cap it at 6 month's and then as TG said, if anyone wants to start a new challenge they can do?

If people think this is a bad idea, please say so - it's your club as much as anybody else's!!

In the meantime, could everyone please PM Tall Girl with your updates, even if your balance has gone up, or you haven't had a chance to pay anything off yet. Once we have the latest spreadsheet, anyone who's name is not on the list, I'll cross off the main board. This will give us a chance to see just how many active members we really have!! (Won't it be funny if there are only 5 of us left ;))

I won't delete anyone though until we reach the 6 month mark, so don't worry if you're crossed off by mistake, we can always pop you back on.

Again, I hope this is OK with everyone - I do think that we need to do a bit of "housekeeping" on the list, otherwise it'll become a full-time job for poor old TG!

Just to say I agree with DD to stop the list after 6 months that would be 01.09.07.

We now have 53 out of 85 on the chart but just to repeat myself this is what I need:

    1. Quest Number (See post 1)
    2. Mortgage balance as of 01.04.07 (only for those not already on the chart)
    3. Current mortgage balance (just PM me anytime until 5th Aug)

Hope that makes it clear and thanks to all you have PM'em me.

Just to a quick reminder the following people are still at £0 and since we are 3 months in I would assume their balances would have gone down by now. Hope to hear from you by 5th August.

I agree with both DD and TG. The motivation comes from seeing balances go down and active support amongst the members.

To join a three year challenge more than 6 months in means that the end goal ie becoming mortgage (or near as can be) more difficult to achieve as became clear on Rene Carole's tV programme.

I don't want to discourage anyone from repaying their mortgage quicker than the original term so think for those wanting to join a similar challenge could start another thread. I am sure that if that were to happen there would be people on this challenge who would post messages of support as we are all in this for the same reason.

If everyone PM's TG their balance for inclusion on the 5th August update then we should get a truer reflection of how we are all doing and we'll see how many of these mortgages we would have 'paid off' if we started at the top and worked down. So c'mon give the figures to TG and let's see how quickly we can pay Batgirl's mortgage off ;)

Some fantastic results so far, keep going

Even without offset 125,920 is smaller then 126k+ figures. My current ammount is = 125,920-1700offset=124220 ;)

    £126,814 @ 1st April 2007
    £113,900 @ 1st Jan 2008 (incl. offset=£9600)

Balance reduced by £12,900 since 1st of April - 11.1% (currently on target to reduce it from £126,814 down to £100,000 by the end of 3 years)

    shortened by 4 yrs | Sep/2027 -19.92yrs ---> Oct/2021 - 13.74yrs | Saved £53,000

Well done every one so far.

I've been ultra focused lately even making sure I do over an hour of daily clicks every day before work. The totals are starting to really build up.

The wedding plans are coming along nicely. We have a budget however I'm determined to come in under this budget. We've found a nice cut price photographer through this site and the rings, honeymoon (parents paying half) are all being bought through cashback sites online. This is not to say the wedding is cheap, the hotel and food is really expensive, however we are saving money in areas people won't notice.

Enough wedding talk. Keep going all and keep focused on your goals.

    Hi everyone,

I have just sent Tall Girl my update but I'm pleased to say I'm making progress in the right direction, if at a slower pace than many of you.

To date I have reduced my outstanding balance by just over £1500, in addition to the interest payments. However, this is the last month of school fees so I will have more money available to throw at the mortgage from August onwards.

This month I have had a win on work's bonus ball draw (£20) and a £5 win on my local hospice lottery draw so they both went on the mortgage. I have also just paid off the balance due on my summer holiday and my new sofas so it has been a heavy month or two.

Still, I'm staying focused more or less all the time. I bought a new aquarium yesterday which was expensive, but we got an ex-display model for £30 cheaper than a fully packaged one. It was planned as part of my lounge refurbishment but I know it still isn't essential. :o

Keep at it everyone, we'll be there before we know it!
