Thanks AnW'sMum: I won't be able to sustain this level of paying off as I only had the one car to sell. Luckily I don't miss it at all even with all of this rain. It's strange how different paying off mortgage debt feels to paying off other debt. I suppose it's because I always resented paying off the other debt even though it was our fault we had it. With mortgage debt you think of all the money your going to save in interest and it's a really big boost.

Right, off to pay in £16 in coppers. From little acorns ......

Too true - my old debt was an awful millstone whereas I never thought of the mortgage as debt. It was SO liberating clearing all my debt so I can only imagine what it would be like to clear the mortgage....to be truly debt free. It would be amazing and would take a lot of the pressure off my having started my own business. Not paying £700 a month just in interest - OMG - that's £8,400 extra a year...FOR ME!

    Can't wait! Fab thread. :T

    Batgirl....I'm straight in a number 3.......

I look at some peoples' mortgages and think "is that all?", but then again, I realise it's all relative. What seems small to me, will be huuuuge to someone else. It's all about affordability - we may earn more in London, but boy do we pay more!!

Have told OH that any money left in his pockets in clothes he throws in the wash is MINE! Just found 5p....little acorns indeed. :D

Just a quick update from me.

Quest no 68. Since April 07 I've made £1500 in overpayments along with my regular £673 odd monthly payments. As of today (04 July) my mortgage stands at £118992.93.

Anyone heard from ThankYouAndEnjoy recently? Not seen him around and wondered if he'd got his new job and whether his GFS was coming through with the repayments for him.
If you're out there hun hope you're ok!

ahhh - my own little search party!! :j (cheers chicken :D )

Wow - I havnt been on this thread for ages. So many new questees; congratulations to everyone partaking in the quest; everyone is doing unbelievably well!

Things here are going well. There is a link on the first post here to my own DFW diary, where all the fun and games over the last 2months are documented - (if anyone fancy a good old laugh, have a read). I will be updating TallGirl around the 3rd August, after my mortgage comes out and bizarly, when things will look decidedly better :D

Having Charlie and not driving is not working for us. As a result, things are likely to get a little expensive over the next couple of months. I've taken the plunge and decided to learn to drive - sounds really pathetic but i have had no desire to drive since legal age to - got my prov through yesterday, am taking my theory test on the 25th and am looking to do the, aptly named, crash course driving lesson/test combo!

On the job front; i still havnt heard. This thursday will be 4 weeks since intereview - Have heard a whisper that still might not find out for 10 days or so !! Grrrrr

    hello again,

a quick question I over paid my mortgage last month I asked for a balance before I did this the balance was 88250.01 I asked for a balance today and it is they say 87324.91.

    I over paid by £ 500
and my mortgage payment went out which was 553.91.

I just don't see how over £900 of this got reduced of the mortgage is it something to do with when they add the interest or something.

I got caught between the interest being added on. I would recommend phoning up to see when your interest is added on and then ring up on the day after every month. That way you will know that the interest has been taken for the month so that is your real figure for the next month.
I still check every month when I phone that the interest has gone out and I ask how much it was.
