Bit of an update from the Catsharks.

We have just gone under the £150k mark and "only" (!!!) owe £148,669. Long, long way to go, but thrilled to see a 1 and a 4 at the front of the scary number! :j

    Keep going everyone.

... the newer thread is a bit more enthusiastic - we're in the boring long haul bit now, not the first flush of mortgage overpayment joy!!

Lol, brilliant statement ailuro2 and totally spot on! If the MFi3 were a relationship we'd be far beyond the 'exciting infatuation stage where one can't keep our hands off each other' and are now firmly at the 'sitting in a pub together, not speaking and staring off into the distance'. Let's hope we can last out the full 3 years before divorce strikes! :rotfl:

Like quite a few others, I'm finding it tough going at the moment. I'm also slightly worried about the economy and my ability to get contract work easily and have decided to leave a lot of money in my company bank account for rainy days. Obviously, this means that I have less personal income and so less money to pay onto the mortgage.

I have just been extended on my current project though and will now have work until January next year :j . I've also just signed up to get a fitted office installed (mostly paid for by my company) so that's another dent in my mortgage free dreams - though it will add a bit to the value of the house and make it easier to organise my business, so I'm happy to do it.

I am really chuffed with how much I've paid off my mortgage so far though :)

Hello guys, I'm back from my holiday feeling refreshed and laid back. Well at least I was until I walked into work on Monday night and found out I was on my own!
Weather was fabulous, this time last week I was sitting outside in 40 degree heat in the evenings. Lush!
Anyway enough rambling. Holiday spends were not too bad. £753.95 spent while we were away. I've just added everything up and as MiL gave us 1/3 of the accomodation cost we only ended up spending £750 for 2 weeks of sun and treats. We only ate out 4 times during the holiday as the weather was lush and we were really rural so no need to go out anywhere.
Snowball's looking OK but still on July 2013 at the moment. I'll have to find £694.75 extra to clear it along the line somewhere. I think I'm still a little behind target but we have no internet access at work now so I can't check anything I need to check.
Congratulations to all those of you who have broken memorable numbers- I'm now sub 60K on the mortgage. Can't wait until I'm sub 60K overall!
Better update sig then hadn't I?

  • Just watching 9AM - the BBC1 Andrew Marr show - and wanted to say how please I am that we started this challenge at the right time, and how much healthier (at least financially) our outlok must be now compared to some. I know we're still affected by the credit crunch, but we're getting our houses in order in more ways than one!

Well done everyone, let's keep inspiring each other to make our survival prospects, and then hopfully happiness and freedom prospects, even better.
