Ooh, a party
How many MFIT-ers have met up in the real world? We could always have a Second Life* one instead if RW is a bit too difficult to put together?

...just got paid today and had a bad month, lots of spending, not much earned! Never mind, I'm not paying interest at the mo due to a healthy stoozepot and still managing to pay off £500 off the capital this month. So balance is now £20,500 temptingly close to the 'below £20k' mark which I will hopefully achieve next payday.
I've done an inventory of my storecupboard ingrediants and I am hoping for a cheapish month foodwise, using up beans, peas and seeds. I made some pea soup for lunch and gone back to sprouting beans on the windowsill again now the salad crops are dwindling a bit.
Keep up the good work everyone, it seems hard sometimes and I feel frustrted when I want to pay more off than I can afford but so long as we are going in the right direction we'll get there eventually....Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I managed to make a smallish OP of £53.91 yesterday thanks to achieving 10% bonus on Kleeneze! My "up-liners" keep telling me I'm doing really well, and I guess with all things considered, ie mainly the wrotten health I've had for the past couple of weeks, I have. I was even presented with a certificate at a training session in Falkirk last Saturday, together with a bottle of wine! I'm using the main earnings to clear off cc debt built up since we stopped fostering, but that's quite slow. However, me and OH decided that any bonus achieved should go to the mortgage so hopefully I can keep getting that.

am afraid we are having a good month!
that is entirely due to the fact that we have finally stopped using the credit card - we have not used it for a month and a half and so no bill at all now to pay (normally several hundred - it just proves on what?).
we jointly had to decide whether to spend what little extra money in the kitty we had, and went only £35 overdrawn. am so chuffed.:D
so we need to set ourselves up with a few accounts - savings (towards annual bills/emergencies etc), slush fund for current month (same ?do we need it principles will apply) and will pay £200 extra off mortgage (more later if there is money left in slush).
it has taken us quite a while to wean off cc (as bills kept coming up and ultimately we had to sort of pay for 2 months out of 1 gradually), but i recommend it if you can. the biggest help was that i stoozed off it, so then it was enforced not spending!
i think it is great that people are still managing to find extra amounts to pay off x0 -
Good month for us, we work for the same company so we both got paid extra money to pay for financial advice on our pensions because they are changing from DB to DC, however they have also given us 2 hour training sessions and access to pensions advisors for free, so we have decided the money would be best spent on the mortgage.:j
We will see what else is left in the current account after all the bills come off - I suspect there'll be a bit extra - now REM @ Cardiff is over and nothing on the horizon until October ( visit to family in Kent and DD's birthday) we will have a tighten belts September.
I bought some of Sainsbury's basics range the other day- the tuna was really cheap, but still dolphin friendly, hubby said it was nice in a tuna melt pannini - it wasn't in steak shape like normal tins, but once it's mashed up what's the difference?
DD was keen to try the 8p noodles - think it's a trendy thing to eat at school at the moment, but happy for her to try new food.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

It's been a while since I was here - busy getting married (in an MSE way!) and having the step-kids for as much of the summer as we could. Back to work today, so reality biting. But at least there's been another payday, so the mortgage is shrinking - now sub-£50,000! Hooray!
Hoping to hear about the outcome of voluntary redundancies this month, and could then have a big decision to make (I hate work, but it pays well and I want to clear the mortgage, question is can I hang on for another few years as I'm only 35...).
At least Barclays have today paid up the back-dated interest on my Tax Haven ISA for the two-and-a-half months it took to open it after 6 April, so that's an extra £50 in the mortgage 'virtual offset' pot.
Well done everyone, keep going!:TMortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
