Yay! I'm back in the game! After a VERY long break, I've just paid 3k off my mortgage. I only need to pay a further 6k and I'll have paid off one of my three mortgage accounts. Well, I have to leave a few quid in that account until the end of my redemption period or I'd have to pay a £3k fee to Standard Life. I've therefore decided that once I get that account down to £56, I'll count is as 'cleared' as far as my signature is concerned, and I'll move onto my 'Home Extension' mortgage account.

I notice that once again the last BoE rate reduction still hasn't been passed onto Standard Life SVR borrowers. That's three rate reductions without a change to my mortgage, well actually it did go up by about 0.1%. However, I have just effectively given myself a rate drop by reducing my mortgage debt, so there's two fingers up at Standard Life!! :D

I have to say, I have been so fortunate because Britannia is passing on all the reductions.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Thanks Shazzany and Superfastgran!
apparently I can 'port' my mortgage but only if I find somewhere immediately plus I know a new mortgage will end up being at least double what it is now
:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j

OL - I don't think your new toy needs justification - neither does my FJ1200 :D
Ali - that house is lush! (Sorry). And costs as much as my flat in London

Freebird runs off to talk OH into moving north!
  • A quick update from me, the May direct debit payment has gone through and I've sent the overpayment check, so the new balance on our mortgage as of today is £129,438.

The percentage figures now stand at:

Abbey own 69.97% of the house. We own 30.03% of the house.

We've now made £3,116 in over payments this year.

The target date for owning 50% of the house is 31st December 2009

Ali007..that house is not too far from me :)
    Original Mortgage April 2006 £138,485
    Mortgage December 2011: £106,322
    Mortgage May 2013: £79,900

Mortgage free goal date: 31st December 2015

Thanks - I think you should move north.....think of the advantages.....Better house for the money...and the best biking roads in the UK. I live 3 miles from Knockhill....what could your FJ1200 do round there I wonder.....
I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

was just wondering - a lot of us are currently suffering from the second year slump - I noticed on the dfw board they have a what have you done today type of post, e.g. little things like saved lunch money by making sandwiches. was wondering if that would help us?
I'll start with today I checked the interest rate check on cash isas, leading to transfers making me about £70 a year extra interest.
tomorrow I'll check quidco for bookies I havent subscribed to

Apologies if people think this is useless idea
