Just wanted to add my own little motivational tip. I don't know how you keep tabs of all the "free" money you get from Cashback sites, Amazon and Ebay Sales, Mystery Shopping and saving up the change in a jar.
.
Funny you should say that. I've just paid an extra 250 mortgage payment. That's 200 of my usual overpayment each month and the 50 is this months quidco payout and the cheque from Barclays for the previous quidco payment which they managed to lose and which I managed to badger out of them eventually. Together they didn't quite amount to £50 but I rounded up. Every little helps. Struggling with motivation though my lodger is doing my head in and I'm starting to think in terms of being happier but having less money if we go our separate ways. I think I'll always put my quidco money straight in the mortgage pot from now on otherwise it'll just get frittered away.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -
hi all. Just texting from train! Don't you love web n walk! Thanks for motivational tip TG. You reminded me, i pay my quidco off capital, together with any AQA earnings i have earned after tax as i consider this cash as a bonus outside the offset. I use my piggy points for treats like cinema tickets.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Keep reading all the other boards too for more hints and tips and I agree with the earlier poster, re-read books on moneysaving for renewed motivation too

I've just re-read Richest Man in Babylon for Today - the updated version of the old classic set in modern times. I like this book.
Other than Martin's books, which other books to people recommend as a bit of inspirational reading. I have heard of the following 3 books and was wondering if anyone had any comments on how good they are, or other suggestions ?
Rich Dad, Poor Dad
Acres of Diamonds
Millionaire next door
I wouldn't say I'm in a lull, but just need some further inspiration.

I've read Rich Dad, Poor Dad ... its very good but won't help so much with moneysaving, more about the frame of mind needed to get out of the rat race and make moneyMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

I found Duncan Bannatyne's autobiography: Anyone Can Do It inspiring and Pay Off Your Mortgage In 2 Years was inspiring too as was Your Money Or Your Life.
Thinking of re-reading some of them or at least dipping into them to gain some more motivation and inspiration. I haven't read the others suggested so I might try to source them.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I was recommended Automatic Millionaire by David Bach. I managed to get it in the October (I think when I joined this site). I lent it to my sister when I was part way through and didn't get it back until Christmas.
This book is the one that got me started. That January I had paid my first mortgage overpayment and set up pensions for both kids.
When I was a bit down a little while back I went to re-read it but can't find it atm. I shall dig it out eventually when I have finished decorating.
Was chatting to a Mum at school about what I've got in fruit wise. She said we'll have to set up a little trade off in the summer where she swaps eggs (duck) for fruit!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
