Ok Ali, you asked for it....

Do it up and retire early to turn it into a B&B....and negotiate a good rate with your neighhbours for use of the pool and tennis courts for your guests.

p.s. Some people call it stalking, some call it selective walking....is what Richie Rich used to say.:rotfl:

I only recently discovered the bird's eye thing on that website, and found out yesterday it gives you a real view from all points of the compass.

For someone like me who loves nosing in other people's houses, that's a great piece of technology! I have to add once I'm mortgage free I would move for a stone built cottage with open fireplace, so I do have a slight reason to nosey!:p

See above, remember the offers over system can add 20% or more to the price!
So buy the farmhouse, do it up and turn it into a nice little profit after the market comes back up. Tradespeople for doing the work will be in plentiful supply once their current contracts run out.;)

Are properties still going for +20% (or more!) over the asking price even up here? My neighbour has just bought a plot of land for a self build and paid under the asking price after he put a 'Monday mid-day' time limit on the offer.

There are lots of houses for sale around me and they used to go pretty quickly...but not now.

In terms of the Trades being 'slack' soon. I would agree with that. Another of my neighbours is building an extension and has had a few of the quotes that he had got in dropped in price 'if you start work immediately'! A sign of the times. There are also a lot of' special offers' on new builds (as they HATE to lower the prices!).

On a TOTALLY different track.......I HAVE BLOWN MY PLANS to be MFi3:doh: _pale_

......I passed my Full Motorbike test yesterday...then went out and bought a BMW650GS (at least I saw some sense and avoided the 'double the price' 1200GS!).

I have had to dip into my offset funds......

On the other hand I have decided to sell my Historic Rally Car (once I get it back on the road...more time and money.....) so there will be some offset to the initial cost......a bike is also more economical and you can park it for free.....Help... Help...I'm starting to try and justify it to myself!

DD - please tell me I have done the right thing!!!:cheesy:

You're a boy. You've bought a toy. That's it, no justification allowed :naughty:

PS - what colour is it ;)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hi All :hello:
feel like Im going backwards.... I;ve cut back the monthly overpayments by £250 so MF date much further away. I've done this in anticipation of new arrival in December - the logic being we should be saving as much as we can right now instead  but listening to people talking about little bits here and there I wont give up on that... the other thing is I STILL desperately want to move which logically is makes no sense  because
    we have the space here
will end up paying double for smaller or equivalent
    big upheaval
    have agood fixed deal
would end up being really far away from anyone we knew
no guarantee of selling within 5 months because of the market

can someone talk me out of this? anyone or been in a similar position?
:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j

It makes perfect sense to me - you're "nesting" and you want somewhere new for your new arrival so the fact that you have space where you are doesn't really matter - hormones yada yada yada

    You might find somewhere "different"

Upheaval is a good time for clearouts - more stuff for eBay!

Could your fixed deal be "portable" ie you can transfer to another property but keep the same deal - ours is

You might not necessarily have to move that far

There are no guarantees in life - that's why we all always take chances in order to live life, isn't it? Plus the market in your area will depend on demand?

I'm going for it - are you?
:( Struggling too much wears a body out
