  • Oh yeah. I didn't even look at it like that. I'm doubting the figures now but I know the balance is definitely right. Have I really paid that much off? I didn't even know I had that much money around. That's given me such a boost!!! Whoo hoooooooo and thank yoooooooooooooooooooooo.

Thats the same as me!!! MOT, car tax, complete new bathroom as the other is sooooooo desperate noe even the cold water tap has seized up!!! Oh and just got a letter this morning saying that my dentist that I have had for the last 22 years can no longer do NHS. Its going private and we have to rejoin on monday....but limited places all for a monthly fee of course!!! Got no other choice as we all no NHS dentist are in short supply.

On a good note...I have taken the plunge and have ordered some stock for my new ebay business. I had been thinking about it for a while but didn't really have the courage. But after reading this board and all the encouraging posts it should be up and running by the end of next week. Im sooo excited!!! Just got to take the right steps.

If we were living together we could share the bathroom and MOT costs but I can't think of a way of sharing the dental costs. I'm 36 not 86 and sharing dentures is probably worse than it actually sounds. YUK YUK YUK!!!! (This is a joke, just in case there is a doubt!!!) Eeeeekkkkkk!!!!

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh by the way, there will be a dentist around that is NHS that WILL be able to see you. Unfortunately everytime I make an appointment I have to wait around six to eight weeks for the most convenient time (9 AM). I'm not fussed about the wait but the amount of chocolate I eat really does take its toll.

Search around Miss_Pink. REALLY!!! If you have trouble call the Council or\and search the Internet. You'll get there.

My dentist told me they were doing the same. The second they do, I'm finished with them. I was so annoyed when they told me, I nearly, hasten to add, nearly, told them that they were money hungry. I thought better of it.

    Getting on soap box ...

Why oh why do we, the public, have to put up with this injustice.

    Getting off soap box ...

Good luck with the E-bay fortunes, dentist, MOT and especially the bathroom. Bet ya looking forward to that first bath\shower!!! I am...

We got our NHS dentist by writting to our local Primary Care Trust - they will put you on a waiting list, and when a space comes up, they will notify you. We are with Plymouth, and although the intitial letter said it could take a year, we only waited a couple of months before getting a dentist.

Good points about the dentist. Mine went private and I had already moved out of the area so I stopped seeing a dentist because of the NHS problem. I broke a tooth at work 5 years later, and a colleague suggested his dentist which was 10 minutes away from work and was taking NHS patients. If only I had kept searching!

Never mind this talk of dentists - I'm going to mention something even more painful......

    the c word.....

    Christmas......

    Ouch, that really hurt!!!!

I made a good start yesterday - £157 worth from Boots, thanks to 1/2 price and BTGOF offers went through till at £114, I paid £5 cash!!!! Rest was using Advantage card points, (:eek::eek::eek::eek:, ooooh that hurt!) 2 giftcards (from Boots after I complained twice about stuff :T:T:T:T:T) and pigsback vouchers (:j:j:j:j:j). Got double points when I redeemed vouchers, plus extra points from machine, but missed out on 1000 points from late night shopping (busy next few Thurs).

Am well pleased with start, and have £60 of Arcadia vouchers on way from pigsback which will also help. Thanks to this lovely site I still intend to make a (small) overpayment in December :j:j:j:j.

Any one else planning cheapo Xmas?

Hi ali007, we are going cheapy too.

Mr Catshark & I are going to get each other one small pressie each and try to put the difference between that and what we normally spend into the mortgage pot. We are also going to cook a normal roast on the day rather than go for all the Chrimbo trimmings as we could both do with losing a bit of weight!

We are going to really try to spend quality family time together rather than just spending cash on each other. Mind you, I have it easy as I have a v small family and DS is only 15 months old! It gets harder to stick to non spending rules the closer it gets to 25/12 though...

There are some really useful tips on the DFW Christmas Survival board.
