Yes we are going cheapo too.
Luckily we have enough booze left from wedding party and there will be no new decorations this year.
In addition, I have been picking up presents all year as I have come across bargains. The remaining presents will be magazine subscriptions and days out using Tesco Clubcard deals.
Food-wise, I refuse to go mad and will be making everything from scratch. MiL has invited us over to theirs for Christmas day, and OH's cousin has everyone coming over a couple of weeks' before for a family get together. We did our bit last year so its someone elses turn! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Almost done for Christmas but I have the kids birthday party to arrange at some stage.
I don't know what to do and can't think when I'm working so I may have to do it one a school night or on the 19th December when they all break up from school.
I think entertainment could be difficult to get hold of though at this time of year!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
How old are the child at the party and how many are coming? What about old fashioned party games, pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey (we did pin the tie on Billy bear! he's huge) musical statues etc Our DD and her friends loved them plus they are cheap to set up
Or what about a viedo/DVD fest with popcorn. For littlies are there any streets that go to town with outdoor lights which you could take them to. There are a couple of streets close to us where every house is decorated it's like a winter wonderland, it is on TV every year.

My son is 12 and at a friend's birthday party this year the boys played bingo! They were as quiet as mice until one of them shouted 'House', concentrating very hard. This will only work if they are old enough to understand what they are doing of course.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Thanks for the ideas and tips. The problem is that they are from 3-6 as DS is 4 and DD is 6. We have a fabulous entertainer round here who would keep all of them etertained but I can almost put money on him being booked already.
Don't know how many kids will be coming either as it's preschool and school.
Angela, will go and have a look at your pictures now!

Can any of you give me some advice please ... I'm going to pay off the money I've saved this year towards my mortgage tonight (see signature) but I'm not sure whether I should reduce the number of payments with it or reduce the amount of each payment??? I think its best to reduce the number of payments but if I was to reduce the amount of each payment surely I could save the extra money each month towards more overpayments?? or would it all work out the same whichever way I choose??? Aaaaagh!!!! Thanks in advance for any help! I'm off to work now but will check back when I get in before I go off to building societyMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

I think it is all the same difference but as you are trying to become mortgage free I would specify to reduce the number of payments.
This will have more of an effect if you have a limit to your overpayments such as £500 op per month or 5* op per month rather than 10% of os balance. Just been asked to extend my contract here for a further 3 months, which will take me up to the start of April 2008. This is great news as I will have more time at home with the family and will have 3 more months of billing to stick on the mortgageMortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)
