I think I missed an exciting weekend by all accounts. I'll go and have a nosey around the homepage in a minute and see what's been going on in my absence!
Fab wedding at the weekend, kids looked sooooo cute in their outfits and were really well behaved for the whole weekend. I was so proud of them. They thought it was fab going in a limo!

  • just managed to log on after all the probs with site being down plus I had a wek away. Wow GQ well done on paying off your mortgage, must be a great feeling.

I'm still knocking mine down by £1k capital (plus the interest...easy to calculate when with Virgin one) so need to tighten things up so I can get it down by the end of the challenge.

Nice to catch up with everyone :)

Personally I reckong a chart every 3 months is sufficient but am happy if other people want something else ... also I think January would be a god time to have one as then it starts us all up for the new year, and then the next one could be 3 months later in April ... when there will only be 2 years left !!! Woohoo !!!

a quarterly update is fine for me too.:D

I think it gives those of us who can't manage big monthly overpayments a chance/or a bit of time to find a bit of extra money from somewhere and put it in to the mortgage- if it was charted monthly then some months might not look so positive.

For a reminder of the goal I hve this page coming up as my second homepage when I click on my 'internet explorer' link. The first tab is set to bring up my bank's homepage.

So nice to have you all back I havereally missed this so much. Really strange actually as I was at a conference on Friday for work and I was not looking forward to it one but when I got there I checked the agenday and guess who the main speaker was - our very own Martin Lewis. So nice to see him live but so sad that this site got attacked at that very time.

I vote for the 3 months updates but I would be happy for anyone who wants to do them monthly. Not everyone can overpay on a monthly basis and for people on an interest only mortage there is not much to show on a monthly basis.

    Take care all

Hi Tallgirl! Wow, fancy hearing Martin live, thats great - sad about the coincidence of the timing tho. I didn't realise there was an issue about monthly timings, I thought it was three months vs. 6 months. I'm definitely against monthly, thats far too frequent - three monthly would be great if you can manage it okay still.

Karmacat Martin was really good, he had a right go about TV's property !!!!!! and the obsession in the country about owning property. He said it is almost like if you don't own a property by 21 you are a failure when many people could do quite well with renting. Very interesting and made me feel good about havign a small mortgage in a changing credit market.

    Hi all!
I am one of the naughty people in black on the last chart. I have felt like I've had no time to do anything really recently and have lost focus on the MFi3 challenge and as a result I've not been here for ages. Also a lot of my saved money that I wanted to pay off the mortgage went on unforseen house repairs and vets bills so I felt very frustrated and 'whats the point' for a bit. However I have realised the error of my ways and have missed you all and the support that comes with this thread so will try to be better in future. I certainly will not miss the next update.

I've looked at the chart though (sorry TG that I didn't send you my details - you do such a great job) and everyone is doing really well. Makes me feel quite bad as the last three months haven't been the most productive.

I also missed a lot with problems on the site. I can't believe people want to attack this site. It does so much good for so many people. That's not so good for banks though I suppose.

Little update - I've been getting no money from uni for a while and DH has only 2 months money left. Our friends were in the same position as us so they've moved in for a while allowing us to be able to afford what we were paying on our mortgage before. And now DH has just found out he has a job starting january, as long as he has finished his PhD by then, so we can then begin overpaying a bit more. All that's left is for me to sort out a job for sometime after I finish and we should be on track to complete our challenge.

    Yay!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't get into the spreadsheet but presume I am black marked. My mortgage only sends me a summary once every 12 months. Can I just update every 6 months? It seems more of a big jump that way and makes me feel better!
I'll try better in the future

Hi Tallgirl - property !!!!!!, thats true, isn't it.... altho I don't move often myself, thats kind of what's got me in my present mess, buying an investment property.

Cupid s and pa 2539, good to hear from you - I *think* the system is to pm Tallgirl directly, its a lot easier for her to amend the chart when she's just going through her pm's, not combing the whole thread. Glad you're both still on board!
