GroatieQueen, what a star!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Well done Groatie Queen! :j :j :j
It just goes to show what you can do if you are motivated. I keep reading through this thread to keep myself focused and hearing success stories like yours really helps.
What a great feeling that must be. Looking forward to it myself!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Thanks everyone, yes, having this particular beast off my back is going to take some getting used to! Everyone here has inspired me - you're all stars too :T :T . Look how well you're all doing!
All the little amounts add up to a lot, but the offset and the amount of interest it saved was so exciting - the Woolwich gave me a running total of interest saved on each monthly statement - that gave me great joy!:D
The MSE forum and boards have been my salvation! And kept me sane on grey days - not so many of them now, thankfully.:j
I'm now going to allow myself a wee bit of pocket money - nailing the last £1,000 took frugality to new levels for me!! But I'm also going to put the rest of the erstwhile mortgage payments towards my ISA, savings and pension in roughly equal amounts.
Thanks for all your good wishes, I value them greatly

It really is stories like yours that keep me focussed and motivated on my quest - and i cant thank you enough for your kind words earlier, i dont really see myself as an inspiration, i just set myself goals, and work hard towards achieving them, and seeing what people, like you, can do helps all the more.
Enjoy your mortgage free status, make sure you do treat yourself after all the hard work and effort - YOU DESERVE IT:T0 -
hi all! i've had a rubbish couple of weeks!
first my hard drive went - so not only am i £141 worse off, i also was offline for over a week (thanks to tallgirl for taking my late update).
then one of my cats got attacked by a dog and disappeared - after a few days i feared the worst. we were out day and night, looking like right blahblahs - but i didn't care, we did anything we thought might help. then just as i'd finally started to realise he wasn't coming home, he appeared by himself after 5 days!:j (he is 12 with only one eye as it is). he was really dehydrated, but the dog bite is amazingly not too bad and not infected and he will be ok!:j if not with a couple of lives less! i'm still in shock and over the moon.
good thing is the dog owner will pay for the bill. bad thing is i am going to cancel our booked cottage for the next week. i'm going to try and claim on my A+L travel insurance, but i'm not too hopeful.
anyway, am glad to be back here - need to catch up and try and find some spare cash.0 -
Sazzacat, glad to hear your cat came back - it's such a horrible feeling when they disappear, particularly after an attack. That's good that the dog owners are paying the treatment costs.
having had time to have a much closer look at the updated MFi3 table, with the new percentage column, take a bow everybody. :T :T You're all doing so well!
The table will look easier to read with the non-updaters taken off - and huge thanks to TallGirl and AnW'smum for all your calculations and updating. The collective power of MFi3 is so impressive. We are going against the tide and it's going swimmingly - it's definitely like swimming the Channel financially - we'll all have such a party on that far shore of MFi3-ness! :rotfl: :rotfl:
On the mortgage-free roll of honour, nobbyMFW today commented that it can be quite disheartening to overpay a large sum of money to a large mortgage in the early years and not see much of a drop in the interest charged because of the repayment/ interest structure, but over time even the smallest bit extra ends up making a huge difference.
So keep on keeping on! Go, everyone, go!! With you all the way!!
