  • Hi all,
have just PMed TallGirl hoping i am not too late.
My latest figure on the mortgage is 90,236 from 91000 in April. Have not been able to overpay as we still have not bought our field yet. when we have that sorted out we will know where we are financially and will be able to put some money into the mortgage. also we are due some lump sums from various places so that we can pay off some minor debts and get ourselves on a more even footing. so hoping that next time will look a bit better, dont want to let you guys down

CountryWife you are fine, plenty of time I will post the Chart Wednesday as the post has delayed some peoples statements.

  • A few people are talking about selling on ebay for the first time this month - I'm thinking of having a good clear out and doing this, too, but have only ever bought on ebay (TV for £2 last week as the big TV stopped working, and I persuaded OH that he could live without a flat screen for a while longer!). I'm sure there must be an article or forum on MSE, but can't find it - can anyone else help, please?

Really? You have to pay for getting your childrens teeth fixed now?

Blimey, good job that didn't happen when I was little. I had the works!! Including one of those hideous head gears! I dread to think how much all that would have set us back! Wow.

I'm not actually part of this challenge, but I plan to be the year after next - assuming there is a pay off your mortgage challenge then. So I'm following this thread with great interest! Keep up the good work folks.

p.s. I can't wait for the latest spreadsheet to see if I've moved up (or is it down?) the massive mortgage hit parade!

    Hi everyone

We have just got back from seeing Mickey and Co in Florida :D it was 'awesome' as our US cousins would say.

Some fantastic reductions being reported, I too am looking forward to seeing TG's chart :) Been wading my way through washing and emails since we got back this morning!

Once TG publishes her chart I shall have a play around with my spreadsheets and see whose mortgages we have 'paid off'

Well done everyone, remember every penny counts so don't get disheartened if your total does not seem to be going down as quickly. The fact that they are going down is cause for celebration. :)

Nope afraid the head gears are alive and well in Britain. The difference being they don't make you wear them during the day for school! They give you a set number of hours a day you have to wear them (usually while in bed and maybe for a few hours previously).

Lets just say I was a late developer in the looks department, but have caught up now...or at least thats what my OH tells me...ha ha.

Serious point to make now. I only realised this morning after reading through all the stuff, that I know very little about our mortgage. OH set it up (it's in his name). I know we have a rate of 5.25% over 5 years but I don't know whether the intrest is caclulated annually or not. Nor do I know our current balance....how bad is that?

So to get me into the mortgage free mindset today I shall learn all about our mortgage!

No! They wanted me to wear one 24hrs  I rebelled and flatly refused to wear it to school!! I still shudder at the thought of that thing. :o

Have just abandoned a weekend away camping due to risk of dodgy weather. OH has been offered serious overtime and I'm carbooting on Sat AND Sun. We've decided that the money we would have spent rallying, we're allowed to blow on a treat for us, and all other money earnt goes towards the mortgage mission. A fine compromise I feel.:T

April start £99,430.47 (didn't give TallGirl the right figure to begin with )
June 25th £98,506.89 (still not recieved July statement)
    Paid off £923.58

Considering this is a One account with interest calculated daily and there's been 3 monthly payments and one overpayment of £450 this is NOT good  We seem to have gone backwards. I suppose 8 birthdays inc an 18th & 70th pressie and celebration dinner and school hols put a dent in the payments. I didn't have a birthday budget but I do now so that should help a bit :rotfl:

So onward and upward for [strike]next[/strike] this month ;)

We have a mortgage with Britannia. I was just wondering how you go about getting your monthly balances/statements. Can you just request them? Or do some charge?

We currently only get an annual statement.
