Good morning everyone, number 9 checking in!!!!

Got my mortgage balance this morning, which didnt include this months normal monthly payment (should show on Monday, but will be too late for this months challenge) so next week should be looking even better.

Anyway, balance at the start was - £80,204.61
    balance this morning - £76,485.34
    total paid off - £3,719.27

Feeling very proud of myself this morning now, as next week, the balance (with my 1st Aug payment showing) should show that im down under 76K, so looking forward to seeing that as i really am doing better than i could ever imagine.

    Hi Everyone,

No 86 here, reporting in (have pmd TG).

    Start £273k
    Aug £258,867
    Diff £14,133

Slowly on the downward path but boy, so far to go!

    This period I will:
    • Be unfeasibly tight re. frittering cash
    • Meal plan
    • Sell anything that is not tied down on ebay ;)
    • Keep sliding any cash I can from current a/c into mortage a/c
    • Keep up £2k overpayment
    • Really work on getting more work for my v new photographic business
As I live in the South East, lots of my friends have had to take out pretty big mortgages too. I have talked to them about MSE but it is amazing how many people seem to have no interest in paying their mortgage off early. I think that we have got so used to crippling house prices/ mortgages that many just assume it is a life long cross that they have to bear. Am so glad that I have found MSE and this amazing group of questees!

Keep up the good work everyone!

Hello all... no 43 reporting in! (PM to TallGirl done!)

1st April... 54,000 (it was an estimate including money I was about to borrow for bathroom which ended up being a bit more)
    1st Aug... 55,542-75
    Difference -1542-75

yep my balance is going the wrong way!! :o Sorry!!

That includes the (max £100) overpayment on my new loan - I haven't even made the 1st proper payment on this yet :rotfl: Thats not for another couple of weeks!!

My plan for the next month is...
    • Stick to my various budgets (food, birthdays, going out etc)
    • Sell something on Ebay (never done it before!!)
    • Put any money left over into my loan overpayment fund
    • Add my details on quidco so I can actually get the 20 odd pounds out I could have got this month :o
    • Carry on with pigsback clicks and surveys and hopefully get a voucher or 2 and will swap for cash from the appropriate budget
I love this website!! Good luck all! :D
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

    Quick update from number 47!

I have already updated TG but I thought as everyone else was sharing ;) ...

    Balance at start £130806.00
    Balance as at 02/08 £128227.88
Amount paid off to date £2578.00

I also paid an additional £500 off this month on top of this, but it won't be reflected for a few days. When you think that I have actually overpaid by £1100 during this time on top of the mortgage payments - it shows you how little it goes down when you mortgage is at this level. Will keep plugging though.

Had to use the Morgan Stanley cashback and a little ebay money on some of my wedding costs, so am hoping to see my quidco cash soon as I haven't been paid anything from them since March! There is about £120+ outstanding!

Did pre-book all my accommodation for the latest project through quidco though to get some cashback, plus quoted my hotel loyalty card for the points, am using Morgan Stanley cashback card to pay for the expenses and buying petrol (using MS cashback card!) at BP so I get Nectar points! I can't think of another way to get more out of my expenses!!!

I think I am in danger of becoming a MFiT addict though - I am obsessed!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    I'll join you,

    Number 54

    Start £118,223
    Aug 1st £116,396 :j :j

So paid off just under £2,000 in 4 months, which is good as on maternity pay which is a large sum of £490 pm.

Plus I have now got my df hooked by realising how much we can save by paying off our mortgage early and he has set a dealine of 13yrs when he is 40.

Everyone keep up the good work

Number 84 reporting in......(salutes smartly to TallGirl)

Figures not great as this is the worst time of year for me in terms of earning money, but much more to come over the next 6 months and lots of Quidco etc. Also having nightmares as the Woolwich move over to Barclays is an utter shambles and they've LOST my account.....they say I'm missing from their systems and can't give me any updates on my totals - maybe they'll lose my mortgage altogether, but somehow I doubt it. By my calculations, these are my figures as of today's date:

By the way, am on interest only.

    Mortgage as of 1/4/07: £146,088
Started challenge in July and as at 3/8/07: £145,534 :o
    Total paid off: £988

TallGirl - I've PM'd you. Quick progress report for everyone else to see too:

    Start : 73,217
    3rd Aug : 70,873
    Reduction : 2,343

Due to my mortgage payments in August, I've now paid 25% of my mortgage, which is nice. Still some way to go though.

Next aim - change that starting '7' to a '6'.

Keep up the good work everyone,

A big hello from No 73.
I PMed you Tallgirl but am back online for a day so am chipping in. I've taken off £1673 since the last tally, now standing at £21003. Not so good but I've not yet started receiving rent for my house that's let out (it's a friend and going via HB, long story). Also I was on holiday and took advantage of a few bargains whilst away!!! I have a large pot of assorted coins that needs to be added in (or used instead of withdrawals)
However, we have a massive tax bill to pay in September and October
so the next three months will be very frugal I think - good job we all like pasta.

Have nice holidays if you're away,
    Kate
