Thanks to everyone who has posted codes and helped us gain these free credits - so useful. Special thanks to Butterflymum for bringing it to our attention

  • How interesting this evening has been, glad I stumbled upon this thread, I can trace my family back to the late 1600's, how mad is that? Thank you very much :)
  • Thanks to all that gave the codes they all worked for me:j
  • Many thanks to all who posted codes. Some worked, some didn't. Up to 180 now, which is better than the 40 I had!
Everybody dies, but not everyone truly lives
  • Thank you to all that posted codes and gave helpful info on how to input them.

Also thank you to Sasparillo for the German/ Polish links. These are useful as I am researching both :)

Special thanks to Butterflymum for starting the thread.

    Happy New Year everyone :)

I have just found out how to add the extra using the long list supplied by

You need to go to http: SLASH SLASH findmypast.dailymail.co.uk

Fill in the register with Daily Mail
Once you have entered all the codes, you get an email with a 4 section code.
You go to the MAIN page for FMP, open your account and scroll down to 'Activate Voucher' and then put in the 4 section code there.

Thanks for that explanation and 'link'
Managed to get all the codes entered and got two new codes but not received any email with a code and STILL can't find where to try the codes it gave me on the site? Anyone help with this problem?! TIA :)

  • I feel a bit guilty now as I got 2 confirmation e-mails from D/Mail.
Result - Wow, I've amassed a huge 355 credits. Don't ask me how.

Put all the D/Mail words in from the list plus
    the 5 other words/letters (Snowflake/Snowman etc)
& the Mail gave me two e-mails with 2 different codes for some reason!

Neenaww. Why not try to input all the passwords again if D/Mails system will let you.

Thank you so much to all who have taken the trouble to post.
I've been struggling so much getting my data (on a budget) so this is just great. My interest has been rekindled.

Any recommendations as to which is best gen.site to subscribe to would be appreciated. (inc.overseas research as well as uk).
I did some free trials 12 months ago, can't remember which sites came out best for me then and they won't let me do free again - naturally! Don't want to make expensive mistake.

    Thanks again. Mo x:T
  • Many thanks to everyone for all the codes. All of them worked except for the DM's voucher for Scotland's People. Has anybody else had their voucher refused?

The Scotland's People voucher was only valid until end of September, hence why it wouldn't work for you.

If you go for either a Find My Past sub or an Ancestry sub, remember to do so via Topcashback, Quidco or suchlike, to save on cost. Another tip if going for Ancestry sub is to purchase a Family Tree Maker programme. Depending on which level purchased, you will get a trial sub (usually 3 or 6 months) to Ancestry. Previous years version of FTM can often be picked up cheap at start of new year. These trial subs can therefore work out better value, plus you have the FTM programme to input your finds on. Also, for Tesco clubcard users, check their FTM option too.
