There are Polish genealogy mailing lists based on region as well as general Polish mailing lists at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jfuller/gen_mail_country-pol.html and German genealogy mailing lists in the same way at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jfuller/gen_mail_country-ger.html
If you haven't asked about your family before on a mailing list, make sure:
You have already as much information as possible from your relatives.
Make a list of the surnames you are researching with possible variations in spelling if you know of any.
Link the surnames to specific villages, towns, regions, if you know them.
Take your time before you post on a mailing list to see how other people write about their families, so you get the feel of the mailing list.
Have a go at first at posting the family names, villages, towns and regions on appropriate mailing lists. You might strike lucky and find a relative on the mailing or someone from the same town, village or region who knows the family or even someone who volunteers to do a look in records without you even asking.
People often do volunteer to do favours, looking up local records if they live in the area or have a subscription to genealogy websites such as ancestry.com but when accepting help it's always polite to think about how you could possibly help the person who's offering help for free in a random act of kindness. Often they are going to archives anyway or don't mind doing it without any return, but it's only fair to ask if you can help - and sometimes it may be you can help that person.
There is also an Anglo German Family History at http://www.agfhs.org/

Use the first link on post 1 which will take you directly to the page for entering the codes.
Or sign in. Then on bottom right there is a link to obtain extra points. Click on this and you will be taken to the correct page which is the same as the link on post 1.
