That brings my total to 325 & they have all been free :)
  • Thank you for this.

I've been trying to track down my half brother, who I have never met - our father died a little while ago but as he and my half brother were estranged we have no idea if my half brother know what happened, and none of the family knew how to track him down. My half brother had no online footprint, I had help from genealogy enthusiasts in the past helped who helped me find who we suspect was his mother, but no record of my half brother at all. I worried that this had been a family myth...

...now with these credits I tracked down his birth record on a hunch I had for some time (turns out everyone had been looking at UK birth records, but he was born in Germany), and once I had his date of birth I found his marriage record. So this has allowed me to confirm he exists, he's married, as of the date of his marriage he was living in the UK, and now I have his date of birth I can get Samaritans or a PI to find him *fingers crossed*

    So, good freebie! :D

  • Well I casually registered for this website to checkout where my dads birth was registered (he passed away a long time ago) and after about 20 minutes of digging I discovered he was one of 10 children! My mum thought he came from a big family, but he would never talk about it as his mum died when he was very young and he had a very hard life apparently. Traced his mum and she died when he was 10. Amazing what you can discover in a matter of minutes.
  • It is indeed....do I sense some new genealogy addicts in the forming :snow_grin.

  • Thank you Butterflymum! I've added 180 credits to my FMP account!:T

I've just spent an hour tracking through our BT phone bills to check that the change to our broadband and calls is saving us money, and this is my reward. (Oh, and the change to our package is saving us about £300 a year, now that elder son has left home).

Yes, genealogy is addictive, but can be so worthwhile. I managed to re-unite my mother in law with her older brother, after 65 years apart, and it's one of the most special things I've ever done.

Here's to a prosperous and money saving New Year.
