Who is using Windows 8?

I just moved from XP to Windows 7 back in August when I bought a new PC. I have found it to be a dog of a system with several flaws that have affected my productivity (self employed - work from home).

I have been reading mixed reports about Windows 8 and I am wondering if upgrading would be worthwhile given that the new monitor I bought does not have a touchscreen.

Anyone have any experience of this?

I have lost productivity after moving from Win 7 to Win 8.

Win 8 is rubbish. But again everyone is different and whether or not you like it, only you can tell after working with it.

I would accept some loss of productivity during the learning curve.

  • Good debate on 7 vs 8 here.

  • Not me and never will, Windows 8 is a complete load of rubbish and I don't see why I should expend more effect than inventing a password to access my system. Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves for effectively producing Vista Mark II.

What are the flaws with Win7 that affected your productivity? Since 8 is heavily based on 7, which itself is based on Vista, those flaws will still be present.
Certainly, without being more specific, if you prefer XP to 7, you'll definately prefer XP over 8.

Im still using XP, Vista was awful, and 7 although it works OK, is still not as good as XP is.

I have seen W8 and my god what a pile of steaming ****.

I bought a new singing and dancing PC with Windows 7 installed. I was expecting things to work quicker but there are some inherent problems in 7. For example the dreadful folder set up in Explorer. This has a major flaw has been discussed for more than two years on the MS forum. Nothing was ever done about it.

The only reason most of you are saying that windows 8 is rubbish is because its not really made for working on its more for multimedia at home than anything else! I don't use it myself but windows 7 will not be going anywhere so don't know why everyone is moaning about how bad windows 8 is.
Perhaps because it is not being sold as a home operating system and no alternative wil be produced?

Considering windows 8 was primarily aimed at the tablet market and then they bring there tablet out and and what do they, put windows RT on.
