In-laws vent!

  • I havent read through all the posts as to be honest they were really starting to p*ss me off!!! The poor op wanted to vent about her in-laws and their lax "babysitting" of her child. Why can't she do that without getting smart ar*e answers in reply?

Anyway OP I would not be happy-

    1. You have had problems with them before with nappy changes, it can be really hard to confront in laws, especially when you've already done this, after all they're not kids!
    2. Taking your child (no matter what age) on a boat without a lifejacket is ridiculously dangerous and for me and I would be telling them that the child is never allowed on the boat without you or OH with them to ensure child safety.
    3. Them not picking up their phone is also a big point for me, what if something had happened to you and there was an emergency?

I think that you need to speak to them, either you or OH need to level with them (as i've said I know this isn't the easiest thing to do) and tell them EXACTLY how you feel. They sound like a nightmare!

    Good luck

I'd be annoyed too. What does your OH think about it all?

A wet nappy I could forgive... the first time it happened. If it's happened before, and you've told them (multiple times) that it should be changed when wet, then it becomes a problem. Not to mention that nappy rash can be really painful :(

Being 1 1/2 hours late without letting you know? I'd be furious.

Taking baby on a boat without a lifejacket and without my permission/knowledge? They wouldn't be babysitting again for a long time.

II (usually) wear a life jacket on the boat because I'm not a strong swimmer!

Slightly off topic OP, but everyone should wear one, strong swimmer or not, as it is quite possible to slip on deck and be knocked unconscious before you fall in the water. Or be in shock from the water temp at this time of year and normal 'strong swimmer' reaction not kicking in well, or getting exhausted very quickly because of the cold or swallowing a bucket full of crudy water.

Easy Peasy! OP should purchase a life jacket for her son and hand it over as part of the Christmas presents...

Personally if the MIL has a boat I'd be watching Dexter for tips and buying some polythene and bin bags for Christmas to solve the problem ;)
