You could swipe your own when I was a cashier, as we had 2 (but both had the same employee number on them)

In our store, staff discount card usage wasn't monitored on site, but remotely by head office. So if a card was say swiped 4 or 5 times in the one day in the one store it would be flagged there, our store would be emailed/contacted and it taken from there. So if this was authorised by the store themselves I'd say it has come from the very top.

genuine offer....person one...you were the one who referred to old people as cute....I'm extending an offer that should we ever meet I will prove to you that there is not an unscientific selection process in my offer...but if you still wish to remain cynical thats up to you.

It must vary between the companies then Gillyx. Where I worked we weren't allowed to serve ourselves or family so it wasn't possible to use our own discount cards when we were working/logged in to a till

It might not be anything to do with the couples appearance anyway so I don't understand the 'cute couple' crap . It may simply have flashed up on the screen to swipe the card and give a random discount as some kind of christmas niceness.
