I just signed up for Unlimited this morning. I am on the Extra service at the moment in a Market 3 Exchange. So my new unlimited price is £9.99 (down from £11.49 for Extra).

All it asked me was if I wanted a new router which I didn't, and then said it would swap over at my next billing point which is 26th December !!

Kids are back from Uni so couldn't have come at a better time, they were fast using up the 60gb this month :-)

Forgot to mention £9.99 price was for a 12 month contract, if I stayed on a month to month contract it was a few quid more I think.

It's a great deal. It's just a shame that new customers are getting an unbelievably good deal and existing customers aren't - despite many not being in a contract.

Apparently if you phone their customer service team they might offer you something, but other than that you would have to cancel and then sign up again to get it. Even with the cancellation fee it would still be worth the savings financially, but it just isn't worth the hassle and disruption to service.

Can you just not switch your deal online?

In other news, I'm a bit confused that all the "normal" broadband packages (including the one I'm on) now say they're estimated 8Mb, although I've previously been getting 17. I wonder if they're deliberately slowing down the old option to encourage people to move across to fibre...

I don't know where you got that mis-information from, if you are an existing Plusnet customer you can log into your account and change to any of the new packages from your next billing date.

question 1 We are Plusnet customers already (it's a lot of money, £25+/month I think, something like a homeworker tarriff) but could we switch to the unlimited broadband package?

Yes, you'd need to agree to a new 12 month contract though.
    fannyadams wrote: »
question 2 - we don't need a router as we already have one that works fine on the plusnet package we have is that OK?

    Fine.
    fannyadams wrote: »
question 3 - do we have to pay the activation fee (£25.00) if we are already customers of yours?

    No.

    Hope that helps :)

    Best regards,

    Bob.

    Hi Bob,

Any explanation on this, while you're here?

Also, if I switched to unlimited BB on the 12 month contract, could I upgrade to fibre within the 12 months if I wanted to?

    It's a known bug (ref: 73759).

Yes, you'd start a new 18 month contract.

I am tempted this but a few possible issues

    1. I have BT line rental only and use Primus CPS for calls and also using adsl 2 which isnt using bt network after it goes to exchange

I willing take phone dont use it much but I want up to 78MB fibre with unlimited no caps at all can live with some traffic shaping at peak times

I also unsure where master socket it I suspect its in box room upstairs and cable goes under floor directly underneath into another socket in a meter cupboard. I got a cheap spur of that which goes through house of back of house to my router. The cable I very much doubt will be good for super fats broadband as its quite thing telephone cable. I believe I can get a extension from you but where can router be seated if there is no electrical sockets nearby

I been umming and arghing for ages with this issues internet is very important to me I am a early adopter of net/adsl (512mb)

    1. The network AFTER the exchange is irrelevant, provided your line is not full LLU (like TalkTalk or Sky). If you're paying BT line rental then it's not full LLU, so no issues in change ISPs. :)

Yes its LLU I use aquiss.net which they use C&W. I do pay BT line rental thats why I kept them as I thought it would help if I move

I assume I move my internet and phone (Primus cps) to them do they do all it for us, I assume I need a mac code, I did get one a few months back but sky were messing me around and the put prices up
