Website scam, refund?!?

Hi there,
I'm after any advice possible. My husband has brought me some Xmas pressies using two websites one being "boots uk sale cheap" where he purchased some ugg boots! These are yet to arrive and I'm trying to cancel before they get here due to believing they are fake. Having no luck with their email responses!
The other website was Hollister outlet co.uk where he purchased a gillet and a hoodie. But what actually arrived was a gillet in wrong colour and size, a hoodie in wrong colour and a men's tshirt all of which are Badly stitched and obviously counterfeit. I too have emailed them for a return and refund with no response and the number they have supplied me with is in china!!! Both websites also took more money out of his bank account then stated! Can anyone tell me what are my rights, obviously my husband is very upset and didn't realise and has lost £160 which we would like back. I can't sell the goods on due to being counterfeit but would at least like to get some money back if not all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Speak to your bank about a chargeback.

Read MSE's Debit Card Chargeback article first.

Boots are probably made from dogs. Sadly, the particular dog has probably been skinned alive.

Wise in hindsight I know, but please get your husband to do a bit of research next time.

The cruelty to animals involved in the sale of "cheap boots" is almost beyond belief. But it happens and the gutless thugs who practice it -- as well as child labour and widespread other abuses -- prosper only because of the gullibility of buyers who:

    * never check a website to see its registrant details

    * never Google to check if the website or supplier has been unfavourably mentioned elsewhere

    * never check the website for details of the business's address, postcode and telephone number.

Naivety is costly for a buyer such as yourself. But it's this kind of naivety which is resulting in far, far worse to the animals, the children, and the adults victimised by the criminal gangs that are running these scams (note: Ugg boots is particularly well known for the sheer number of fakes out there -- demonstrating, yet again, that a designer name label is a ludicrous item to purchase if the full price cannot be afforded from a legitimate distributor / authorised outlet.)

International fakery has never been a more brutal and brutalizing business than it is now -- thanks entirely to a Western need for 'bargains' from any place, and at any cost, just so long as they're cheap.

Exchange rate is caculated on day of debit. So any website overseas cannot give a exact price due to this. unless they process in GBP.

As you got the goods. You will now have to jump through a few hoops, to get the money back.
There is not a chargeback for fake goods...
What there is a a form of chargeback (for want of a better wrod) as the retailer have not abided by the Visa regs by having a clear contact no and returns address on their site.
You may have to get proof they are not the real artical from a retailer in writing. And you will have to provide proof that they retailer is unwilling to provide a returns address....

As a aside most of this year. These sites seem to have been failing to deliver the goods. So lots of nice easy non reciept chargebacks.
Now xmas is upon us and there is a increase in usage of these sites :o They are delivering really quickly
Result. Is lots of people having to do a lot of leg work to get their cash back....

Thanks for all the comments, even the un useful ones. Unfortunately my husband made an error of judgment thinking he was being money saving! In his defence these websites are the second item listed on google, so he wrongly assumed they would be legitimate!
Thank you very much dalesrider for your genuine advice it is greatly appreciated, I understand it is not going to be easy to get the money back if at all. But anything is better then nothing.

Thank you phylpho on your take on animal cruelty, Nothing better then being made to feel gullible, niave and belittled! You sure know how to kick a girl when she's already having a bad day! :T
