Our stationary car, signalling to turn right up a side street, was rammed from behind by a Zenith insured driver just the other day.

The company are doing a great job so far of looking after us in an effort to "assist with making the process of pursuing the claim as easy as possible" and "minimise inconvenience".

I'm impressed so far and considering switching to them when our own insurance policy expires (if the quote is right) in a couple of months.

£96 of your additional charges are because you 'forgot' to fully declare your circumstances.

They're the opposite with their own customers, by helping an innocent third party very quickly they keep you from claims management companies and credit hire companies who can potentially add many thousands to the claim

You say you're having a nightmare with Zenith. Could I suggest it should be the other way round?
  • I think this post isn't going quite as the OP thought it would..

First chance I've had to reply

No I didn't forget on purpose just genuinely forgot, not trying to get a cheaper premium. I accept this was my own oversight which I'm putting down to the fact I'm human. Not dense, or 12 just a normal person who makes mistakes now and then.

My main complaint is regarding both charges of £30 and £96 being taken from my account without authorisation or any notice until after the fact.

And yes I did check for an alternative contact number other than the 08 expensive number

I also strongly object to the £30 admin fee which I feel is an unjustified amount simply to make more profit

I also disagree with my questions regarding these issues being deleted from their Facebook instead of being dealt with

If people feel the need to reply to this post with rudeness or name calling I really don't mind as long as your not emptying my bank account while your at it :p

If they hadn't just taken the money then another option they would have had would have been to simply cancel your policy due to you not paying the full premium required for your circumstances.

This would have ended up costing you far more than the £30 admin fee that they did charge as your insurance history would show you as having a policy cancelled and this would lead to other insurers charging you extra.

    it :p

just read the terms and conditions

    "All mid-term adjustments = Completed Online – £0.00, Completed Offline – £30.00"

I guess the admin charge was done offline. Thus its in the T&C for the product that I am guessing you signed up to. THe admin charges was pretty easy to see and not hidden.

Jusitfied or not its in black and white and part of the deal.

WHat amount would you consider justified then?

also in the T&C you could have cancelled in the first 14 days. You noticed this on day 12.
"If your insurance is cancelled for any reason within the first 14 days from the start date of your policy we will make a charge for the time you have been on cover plus a £25.00 administration fee."

thus you could have gone elsewhere if that unhappy with them.

I guess its easier to delete as companies can not be as abrupt as our replies have been.

With out checking Zenith face book page. They may not want it to turn into a people venting page against there company? I guess your not the first or last person not to be happy with a service they provide.

This is another reason I had a gripe about them I was quoted £116 to cancel which included £75 cancellation instead of £25

This was because the policy was taken out 14 days before it began which means I was actually 12 days over the cancellation period, this is something I also felt was unfair.

The £20 late doc fee I was charged took me 20 minutes to argue successfully for a refund. They did not want to refund but because I had correspondence stating the documents had to be supplied within 14 days of the policy starting and not from when the policy was bought

The phone call cost me more than £20 and left me feeling very frustrated.

Then a couple days later I seen they took more money and felt the need to vent - and so I posted on Facebook which they deleted - more frustration - so I posted here

A few hours later I've accepted it and moved on but won't be using them again or recommending

    from there website
"If your insurance is cancelled for any reason within the first 14 days from the start date of your policy we will make a charge for the time you have been on cover plus a £25.00 administration fee."

I read that as 14 days after your insurance starts and not when you bought it.

I am reading the online T&C and your exact copy may be different.
But from reading the above it appears they have misquaoted you on costs.
Not sure if you/they have anything in writting to surport this missquoting.
I am not a legal expert so may be wrong.

From looking at my copy you are right I should only have been quoted the £25. IMO this is just another example of them trying to extract as much money as possible from their customers.

I could post this on their Facebook but they would only delete it, I could send a letter or email but I'm sure it would only receive the same response. I feel I've wasted enough money on their expensive 08 number. So they will have my money this year but I stand by what I originally said about them.
