zenith Insurance - within 12 days hit with 2 overcharges and fees

I am having a nightmare with this company and just want to let people know exactly what type of person they are.

I wrote the below complaint on their facebook wall, repeatedly and they just keep deleting it, trying to hide the fact they are trying to rip off customers

I am reposting this because strangely enough my last post seems to have vanished?????

Since posting this on Wednesday night, I was messaged with a request for my details, I received another message on Thursday morning saying my complaint will be looked into, Since then I have heard nothing and my complaint has mysteriously vanished off their facebook.

This is definitely one of the worst companies I have had the misfortune to deal with.

People beware!!!!!!!!!!!

Id like to advise people considering this company for insurance to give it a complete miss. This is a company which is out to fleece as much as possible from its customers by whatever way it can.

My car insurance policy has been running just 12 days and they have tried to get almost £120 extra of me. First they charged me a late document fee of £20 when I was only 4 days into the policy because I hadn't got my documents too them with 14 days of the policy starting??????

After a lengthy phone call on an 0844 number I finally got them to agree to refund.

Now today I am informed (with no choice) that my policy is going up by £66 with a £30 admin fee because I didn't declare I had 3 penalty points. A very expensive oversight!!

12 days into the policy and it will cost me £116 to cancel. Needless to say I am going to have to stay with these rip off merchants for a year, but will be telling all and sundry to stay clear of them, they are out to get as much as they can from their customers.

  • Sounds a bit like 50-50 to me, you both made errors.

So OP, you made mistakes on your insurance application and they penalised you for it.

This is the Praise, Vent and Warnings board, so are you warning insurance sellers against doing business with you?

You have been lucky, they were well within rights to cancel the insurance outright and refund you pro-rota on the policy for the "oversight" in regards to obtaining a lower quote by forgetting about your points.
Had they have done so, your premiums would have rocketed as you have now had insurance cancelled.
To be honest, I would not push it, they might jump the gun if you request to cancel and cancel at their end to teach you a lesson before granting your request which will have a contractual notice period.
You got the incorrect fee waved, they only put £66 + admin fee on for the mistake.
Sounds very reasonable to me, I can think of one company who would have served up a seven day notice the second they found out.
    Be happy...;)

Not wishing to single the OP out, but isn't it typical of our society that when a company makes a simple mistake it is an outrage.

Yet when a consumer makes a more serious mistake ; they are somehow to be absolved of the consequences.

They made a mistake and refunded you, the number was an 0844 but did you check the saynoto0870.com website before you rang them? if not then you're moaning about something you could have avoided.

You failed to give the correct details regards endorsements on your license prior to agreeing to the policy and kick up a stink when your car insurance price goes up because of your previous motoring indiscretions.

They were still prepared to honour the policy, which would have been null and void should you have been required to make a claim if you hadn't notified them of the discrepancy, and could have led to prosecution for failing to drive without insurance. They were well within their rights to refuse to cover you for obtaining insurance using false information.

Whining on Facebook in such a manner which clearly shows that you are more at fault than they are just makes you look foolish, if you wanted to make a proper complaint you'd have contacted them in the proper channels, you're just attention seeking.

How is the OP of a driving age?

All this whining and infantile footstomping tantrums on Facebook!!!

OP - you sound about twelve years old, you've tried to hide information from your insurers to get a better quote and they found out.

    Grow up......

I agree. How can you forget that you have a driving conviction with 3 points on your licence especially as this is a specific question that is always asked when taking out moror insurance.

Why will it cost you £116 to cancel your insurance in the first 12 days?
You got the refund back for the wrongly charged bit.

    So that makes just £66+30.

Does it mention admin policy of £30 in the terms and conditions?
I have moved house and changed car while I have been insured. not sure if I paid a admin charge for the amount I was paying did.

Though as I search around for cheapest option I guess all optional extra like this come with a small charge.
  • Our stationary car, signalling to turn right up a side street, was rammed from behind by a Zenith insured driver just the other day.

The company are doing a great job so far of looking after us in an effort to "assist with making the process of pursuing the claim as easy as possible" and "minimise inconvenience".

I'm impressed so far and considering switching to them when our own insurance policy expires (if the quote is right) in a couple of months.

£96 of your additional charges are because you 'forgot' to fully declare your circumstances.
  • So it's their fault you're too daft to remember you have 3 points?

that's your fault, not theirs. There isn't really a nice way to say it, but to make that error and bad mouth them for it you seem unbelievably dense.

Its genuinely scary that people who can't think for themselves are behind the wheel.

By telling this tale to all and sundry you'll just look like an idiot.
