I guess there's a possibility that I could loose a reward payment in the changeover.
    Nope.
are you only allowed to have 1 reward account?
    In your sole name, yes.
Also I'd hate to demote my Reward and then find that there is something stopping the ordinary account from being upgraded to a Reward. I would then be left with no Reward account at all.
    Not going to happen!
Fortunately, I've identified 2 small DDs that I can change over to the Reward account without much hassle, so that might be the safest solution.
There are over 3 months to 'D-Day'. Just call into a branch sometime between now and mid-April and have them do the cancellation/redesignation while you wait. There's always the chance that a DD won't 'take' the first time following a change of account. If it's important, ie interest bearing such as mortgage/loan/credit card (with the added possibility of a late payment marker), then I'd avoid altogether. If it's something that doesn't matter so much, ie a charitable donation, then you may wish to go with this plan...but I wouldn't personally...I'd do as I suggested earlier. :)

    Yup. :D

Now have 9 separate DDs set up with Tesco (6 for Vantage spread across 2 Tesco accounts, and 3 for Halifax Reward on the Internet Saver.

Did you have to ring Tesco to set up the extra DDs. I've just opened my saver account with them and looking online, having logged in, I can't see where I can set up an extra DD. In fact, I can't even see my original DD on their site, although it is showing in my Halifax reward account.

    thanks!

6 were setup for the LTSB Vantage 4% promotion (3 each for Internet Saver and Instant Access Savings) over the phone in one session.

3 more were set up online since then for the Halifax Reward T&Cs change (Internet Saver).

From memory it's in a section called 'move money' (accessed via the LHS menu) with some subsections called 'money in' and 'money out'.
  • I don't see any point in having URCA "interest free" £300 overdraft facility when you have to pay 5 quid to use it. Meh..

I've had experience of the unexpected and downright stupid behaviour of bank's systems in the past to trust that nothing will go wrong.

I think I'll stick to transferring a couple of simple low value DDs.

Thats 6 DD setup from Tesco Bank. Need to remember my egg/YBS login details now to set up the second DD then all good to go.
  • I currently have 3 Reward accounts that I've linked to my Tesco Saver, is it possible to link my wifes 3 Reward accounts to my Tesco account, I tried online a few days ago but it didn't allow me (possibly due to the different names on her Reward accounts) so would it be possible/advisable to fill out a paper copy of the Direct Debit mandate available on the Tesco site and link them to my account or simpler to just get her to open up her own Tesco Saver?

I have 6x accounts linked to my Tesco saver. Just asked for the sort code and account number for each one when I set it up online.

Hi, just looking into this now,

So if I open 2 tesco savings accounts, one in my name and one in wife's name, can I set up a direct debit from my solo Halifax account, my joint Halifax account and my wife's solo Halifax account to each of these. Would this cover the requirement for 2 direct debits per Halifax account? Can I set up a direct debit from my wife's solo Halifax account to go into my tesco saver?

Hi, just looking into this now
Start with the very first post in this thread. :)

You'll see it (and the notice of variation posted on this thread and on the Halifax website) answers the following question...
Would this cover the requirement for 2 direct debits per Halifax account?
...by saying the DDs need to be to different organisations. So the answer is no.
Can I set up a direct debit from my wife's solo Halifax account to go into my tesco saver?
Same question asked earlier today (2 or 3 posts before yours). My personal opinion, having read my Tesco T&Cs, is no (because it's not "your" current account)...but see if anyone else posts differently.

Alternatively, why not ring Tesco and ask? Then post back on this thread so others will know.
