Some of them yes. Not as often as I used to be. Problem now is where I worked in Newcastle it is now Virgin Money and they now work for Virgin Money. All of NRAM accounts are based at Doxford Park in Sunderland and I don't know anyone that works there.
  • The reason I ask Alfie is that if NR knew they had ****** this up but continued to go about business without addressing the issue then the scope changes dramatically edging toward fraud. Do you think other people from NR might speak up / out about any bad practise there?
  • Being specific Alfie, do you recall when the issue of CCA regulated loans over 25k first cane to light within NR?

All complaints end up on the desks of people with a specific task who have been told to do there job in a specific way and have no power whatsoever. Would it not make more sense to start addressing the complaints to the Executive team, or to the Non-Executive board members (who are independant) and give them some food for thought? The Non-Execs may raise it at the next NRAM or UKAR board meetings if they receive an influx of worrying complaints that show we mean business.
  • So... I've just received a copy of my offer of loan, £30k offered, but stated in that contract, it is covered by the CCA. Not quite sure what they're trying to prove. However, there is no covering letter, and even worse than that, they have also enclosed a copy of somebody else's letter! Absolutely shocking! This tells me everything I could want to know about somebody else's purchase, including their address! This will of course now be included in my complaint!

I expect nothing else from NRAM, what a shambles!!

If I were you, I would also write to the person that you have received the details of too and inform them of the mistake also!

I am now waiting for my 3rd FOS response back which I’m expecting by the end of this week. Will keep my progress updated....

Don't companies get fined for breaching the data protection act? Surely sharing another customer's details with tinystar2001 is a breach? I would report it.
  • Who do you report it to? I think it is a very serious error, and yes, I am planning to contact the other customer about this. I have also included it in my complaint to the FOS.

I can't to be honest but do know it was common knowledge and certain departments knew. Like I said earlier I've seen on an often basis the wrong template used when mortgage offers were drawn up. NR didn't have the qualified staff to cope with the workload. The bank got too big too fast.

I couldn't say if anyone else would speak out because as I say I don't see or speak to many people that are there now.

With regards to the Data Protection question and who to report it to, isn't it the ICO (Information Commisoners Office)?

Just received my 3rd FOS update/response.

I have been told that my file is being passed to an ombudsman as I do not agree with the adjudicators findings.

I have been told by the FOS the following:

    1. They do not feel that NRAM have breached any contract.

    2. They agree that NRAM have broken TCF principles and provided misleading documentation, but they are doing nothing about it and welcome me to complain or take this forward with the FCA (the new FSA).

    3. They confirm that I must be feeling uncertain about my loan documentation being on the wrong basis, but as this does not affect my ability to repay the loan then it does not affect my complaint?! (This is one of the things I was complaining about!)

    4. They asked me to prove that I had savings in excess of £3k (the amount over £25k that I borrowed) as in FOS response no.2 they agreed that it may have affected my choice. Now that I have proven i had savings (i think they thought i was bluffing!) by sending savings accounts statements - meaning that i could have taken out a regulated loan of £25k or less. But now they do not feel that it would have made any difference to my decision had I of known the correct position! Why ask me to prove in the first place then?!?!

To be honest I'm astonished that the FOS have taken this view. They have agreed that NRAM have made mistakes in writing but appear unwilling to help whatsoever and NRAM have got away with it!!!

So a few weeks down the line, 3/4 letters later, I'm in exactly the same uncertain position. I have a unregulated loan that I didn't sign up for. I have a contract that's wrong. I have no idea when, how or if the documents will be updated. The FOS agree that NRAM have c***ed up but everything's fine as I'm still paying the loan back. Thanks for your unbiased help FOS, nice one!!

Surely the ombudsman is going to agree with the adjudicator so I can't see the point in this step of the process.

Has anyone else had a different response back from the FOS?
