Looks like very bad news for all of us who are dealing with Howlett Clarke solicitors
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!0 -
Could be wrong, but was there not a post somewhere on this thread that one of the solicitors dealing with this left Howlett Clarke and went somewhere else to continue the NRAM work?0

EDIT - They are answering the phone but good luck getting through to the solicitor dealing with your case0 -

Yep, but it looks like said solicitor is being choosy with the claims he works on. I contacted him and asked why he had taken other claims with him and not mine, and was told he wasn't dealing with NRAM cases and to stay with HC as they are dealing with the NRAM cases0 -

The problem is that Howlett Clarke will have a retainer with the client and if the client terminates their retainer then Howlett Clarke will be entitled to charge. If the client seeks to move their file then also Howlett Clarke will no doubt seek an undertaking for payment of their fees if the case succeeds.
Its not about not taking on the cases, rather there are constraints which tie the hands of the lawyer who cant simply ignore the fact that there is another firm instructed.
That said, if the current firm agree to release the papers then im sure that the lawyer would be willing to look at the case0 -

There is also the possibility that the lawyer has a covenant in place which prevents them from taking on such case. Things arent always as sinister as people think, so accusing someone of being choosy without knowing the full facts isnt always a good idea0 -

Pt2537 - Can you give any ideas on how this will pan out for those of us who are with Howlett Clarke?
I suppose it shouldn't be too much of a surprise (after you left I was passed on to a further two solicitors) but does it mean that our claims are dead in the water or can it be "transferred" to another solicitor?
Thanks in advance.

Morning
Ok well i dont work at HC any longer so dont know for sure what is happening, however i would presume the closure of the firm will mean the files will be transferred to other firms, whether those firms have the necessary expertise to run the claims remains to be seen, afterall the legal arguments we put together were quite long and complex.
You would have the right to move your file to a new law firm although HC would be entitled to be paid for the work they did on the claim in principle so maybe its better to speak to HC to see what your options are, and to see if you can move your file to a new place and if so on what terms etc.
Ive always said these NRAM cases have merit, ive been proven right over and over , and i still believe that they are viable cases,0
