Renting house- Electric certificate questions

But a Ferrari with ABS brakes, crumple zones and airbags might help prevent or lower the chance of a serious accident than a 25 yr old Capri. In the same way updated electrics might help prevent serious accidents.
However, if the underlying problem is not dealt with, a Ferrari wrapped in bubble wrap might not be enough!
I deliberately didn't compare like for like, that is the whole point.
What I am trying to convey to you is that an RCD(Ferrari) is by design much safer, no question. The Fuse(Capri) is dated but 100% legal.
All things being equal, the driver of the Ferrari would not be immune to prosecution, your part quote of real1314 implied that he/she was saying that having an RCD would grant immunity.
It is the actions of the driver (landlord) that would decide whether a prosecution would take place.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Your last sentence is true.
Equally someone is not going to be immune from prosecution if they have a fusebox as stated here:

Also, any steps you can take to PREVENT an accident could stop someone being prosecuted because the accident never had chance to occur or the likelyhood of an accident is less- ie an RCD0 -
Are there any Qualified Electricians in the house ??
Fuse boxes are perfectly safe.
Lot of exagerrated statements about safety in this thread.

It's easy to advocate fully rewiring a house when you're not paying for it.
All those talking about families being killed by a rogue fuse.
I have heard that the latest Mercedes has significantly better safety features than the car you currently drive.
Are you going to get a 90k loan, then purchase one to safeguard your family?:rolleyes:Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

Thank you for all your replys. Sorry I didn't mean to cause any arguments.
Well after all this time I hope you will be pleased to know that I have had all the electrical work done that was suggested for the extra £550.
A new fuse box, rewired shower and earth things in bathroom.
Total was £660 for this work & the certificate.
I am still waiting for it to come through the post. Hope this is right & I havn't been ripped off.
Could someone out there please let me know if this is normal & if so how long it should take.
Just got to sort out my insurance & will be ready to rent.0
