Renting house- Electric certificate questions

Dear saint (need the patience of one?)
If you are going to post replies to this forum and expect to be taken seriously then you need to have a more holistic approach to answering questions and not keep harping on about the certificate (necessary or not). You also need to know what you are talking about,
e.g."You are wrong about the absence of earthing causing a fire."
Where do you get this from? what are your qualifications for stating such a stupid phrase anyway. Would you like me to explain to you the possible consequences of not having your metalwork earthed?
Mentalmentor was very nice to you in allowing you to have your opinion, I wouldnt. In fact unless you can justify what you say with facts (referring to the above comment) you should keep quiet as people who ask for advice might be misled by your opionated (not factual comments).
Perhaps you SHOULD click on other peoples links then you would increase your knowledge about the world.

Your links are wasted on me, I won't be bothering to click them because they will not tell me that my statement was incorrect.
I will say it again for those who are unclear.
I think this is the forum equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and going "la la la I'm not listening".
I'll repeat the relevant part of my, and other people's, posting. Even if you don't need a certificate, you are required to ensure that the electrics in a house that you rent out are safe. Do you claim that this statement is incorrect?0 -

I do not care about being taken seriously, I posted a statement that was correct. I did not 'harp on', just replied to people(like yourself) who quoted me, by all means be 'holistic' all you want, I am right.
I know the consequences of not earthing, I guess you've 'googled' and failed to find 'Lack of earthing caused fire'. Keep looking.
Why click on links that I know will not prove me wrong, a complete waste of time.
To all that read this:
Simply put, you don't need a certificate.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -

Do you get some sort of masochistic kick out of making yourself look like an idiot?0 -

The problem is that you are entirely missing the point. In the posting I made which you quoted and said that you wouldn't click on the links of, the entire point was that while there was no legal requirement for an electrical safety certificate, landlords are required to ensure that the electrics, in houses that they let, are safe. You have avoided, through deliberate avoidance or ignorance, this point. Finally you seem to at least be acknowledging the requirement that electrics be safe, independent of the requirement for a certificate. This is progress.0 -
Should I go and get a ruler?0

Dude(may I call you that?),
Sometimes I am busy, other times I can't be ars*d to write a full length reply with accompanying links.
Olly3000 put it very well (with links) before you even made a reply, so the need to quote me was not necessary.
In case you missed it,

This is plain ridiculous. It has been pointed out by me and others this is not the point that is being made. I don't know whether you're pretending to be a moron, or whether you actually are a moron, but this conversation is going nowhere.
I'll sum up, using as few polysyllable words as I can in case that helps. Though I doubt it.
No one claimed that you needed the certificate. People, including myself, pointed out that while you don't need an electrical safety certificate, you do need to make sure that the electrics are safe.
No matter how many times this is pointed out to you, you just respond with "you don't need a certificate". Since no-one has claimed that you do, I am puzzled as to what your strategy is. Why do you wish to ignore the actual point of conversation, that the landlord is responsible for making sure that the electrics in a rented house are safe? Why do you persist in posting a non-sequitur? What's in it for you?0
