Welcome to all the newbies who have joined the grocery challenge!! :santa2: It's great to see you all!! :D

Sometimes when we start a new challenge we don't realise how much we actually spend so if you go over your target figure at the beginning don't feel too bad. :) You'll get there eventually, it might just mean you need to adjust your target or meal plan etc which might help you be more organised when shopping. ;)

One thing lots of people try to aim for is NSD's (No spend days). We all know how much money we end up spending when we 'just' pop in for a couple of things! Trying to have NSD's helps to avoid spending unnecessary amounts which helps to keeps us in budget. :T

Enjoy the challenge, what a great way to start 2013!! :T

:xmastree: HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!!! :xmastree:
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!
    :starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod:
    :xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:

I did my food inventory last night and if we get snowed in we will be fine! Ive been of work for 11 weeks but am back in on Christmas Eve and Christmas day so Ive spent the afternoon making a HUGE pan of mushroom soup that cost me £1.00 to make, then a Lamb Korma and 4 boxes of Chilli.. This is so I dont have to work and cook or go shopping again!
Gonna look for a note book in the house and make some notes about this new challenge! Woop! Have a great rest of the day folks x

  • Hi,

Could you put me down for £400 for January please. My month will be 1st Jan-31st Jan so look forward to joining you all once my Dec challenge finishes on 31st :)

Plan for the New Year: inventory, use up old stocks, bake more and batch cook. Over the year I would like to reduce my grocery spends to £250 per month!

    Thanks

I'd love to join too! I'd like to stick to £200 for January (from the 29th December to the 26th January, so it coincides with payday/food shopping day) but I am aware that it will probably go over this! We already buy basics stuff for pretty much everything but I would love to get our food bills down even more. I mean there are only 2 of us! Can't wait to get properly stuck in and pick up some tips from you all.
