We are a family of four and I attempted to only spend £50 per week (£200 per month)
Well My total is £221 so that works out to be £55.25 per week
Could have been worse I suppose.
I used to spend £70 per month but wanted to push it a little further.
So I have saved £59 this month from trying this challenge :T
I wouldnt see that as a failure as £200 a month is a tough target. We are also a family of 4 and had set a target of £350 and looking at only just coming in under budget.
I plan on a target of £300.00 next month but for me that will be a challenge.0 -

160 tetley teabags £4.30

I have just until Sunday of January left so will start on February GC on Monday.
I am aiming to spend less than £100 - 4 weeks - pension so 4 weeks works for me.
Just popping in to say that my thoughts are with you at this difficult time Florenceem.
It's good to see you back, and I hope over time, to see your wonderful meal photos again.
NSD Thankfully - cleaned the house, had lunch from fridge/cupboards/freezer, went for a walk, had a bottle of wine from Xmas stocks which I never used....
Lunch was a bit of a concoction because I didn't want to buy anything. I won't be sharing the 'recipe' because I don't want to subject anyone else to it :rotfl:. I jest - it wasn't 'that' bad, and it was in the MSE vibe, but boy, I can't wait until I get paid on the 1st Feb!
I hope everyone is doing wellGrocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

DD and DS ate the vegetable curry. I didnt want anything. I have had one piece of fruitbread, a bowl of dry shreddies and some fruit juice and a few cups of tea.
Hopefully tomorrow i will be able to make some slow cooker lemon curd.
There is some lentil mash - kind of like a thick lentil casserole- for DD and DS to eat tomorrow (Sunday) and lots of food in the cupboard for them.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Morning! The snow has mainly melted here apart from the tough little patch lingering on the driveway. I'm looking forward to be able to go shopping normally and not worry too much about braking/stopping and seeing the lines in a car park! I'm fairly sure today is going to be an NSD now - I'd been worrying that I didn't have enough butter for pastry but realised I've seen someone somewhere making pastry for a pie using oil. I have that in, so will search for the recipe and avoid the shops today
Tea tonight is going to be a lovely steak pie with veggies, served with either green beans, mashed potatoes & broccoli, or chips if that's what Mr KB prefers.
Main shop tomorrow, and while there's not too much on it seems to have more than I'd like. I've done a mealplan now and shouldn't need too much. I will have to do a meat shop either this week or next and will go to the butcher in town when things get a little more sparse in the freezer.
Today: Steak Pie
Monday: Leftover Pie
Tuesday: HM Sweet & Sour Chicken with 11p Noodles
Wednesday: TBC
Thursday: Sausages in Giant Yorkies with Mash & Gravy (when oven is on I'll make some cakes for the tin)
Friday: HM Baguette Pizzas (as above, but as oven isn't on for long may use it to make croutons for soup)
Saturday: Enchiladas
Meaning I should need:
Fruit for lunchboxes
1 Red Pepper
Tin Foil
Fabric Softener (rarely buy it)
Tin of Pineapple Chunks
Cooked Meat
P/B Baguettes
Wraps
Passata
Ketchup
Butter/Cooking Marg
Cheese
I'm hoping that lot comes to just under £20. I'll still be over budget for January but I hope I can make that up in February, what with it being shorter than this month has! I only have until Thursday and the 1st of the month to go. I can do this!
Have a good day, everyone.

Thanks slscarborough, I have to admit that none of that £200 budget had to be spent on meat.
We sometimes buy packet ham for sandwiches but other than that we rear our own pork, lamb & chicken.
I have no clue how anyone could feed 4 on £200 with buying meat as well .
Think you are right, £300 would be more like a realistic target.
Good luck xxx0
