Just had my last delivery of the month from Asda.
Total spend this month is 124.96p
£4.96 over budget but is does include delivery costs of £9.00.
Therefore because it would cost more to go to Asda than it costs to have it delivered (32 mile roundtrip) and I know I would impulse buy. I reckon my true spend this month is £115.96 - boy am I pleased!!:j

I know I have no need to venture out again this month, my cupboards and freezers are bursting. Off to update signiture and meal plan for next month

Just checking with all your Frugel eating experts! Tins never go off, I have got that right haven't I? We are just about to eat a tinned steak and kidney pudding that has a BB4 date of 2008.
    Is it safe?

Evening! A tiny spend to report of £1.91 today on baked beans, jam, onions and a loaf of bread. Mr KB would like some lemonade tomorrow, so I'll pick up a bottle tomorrow morning before work. Payday is on Monday, but my challenge will continue until the end of the month. :)

Total now stands at £132.25. Tea tonight was really easy - I had a couple of portions of leftover chilli con carne in the freezer, so I've topped it with mashed potato and having it as a chilli shepherd's pie (to be fair, any shepherd is going to be chilly today!)

Take care, everyone. Keep warm and stay safe where ice still lingers.

    KB xx

Did an AF order as I had a £4 credit to use and they had a great offer on dried noodles (£3.99 for 9kg). Also got 24 packs of 2 naan breads for £2 which will go in the freezer as we all love them. This plus some curry pastes, jam, sauces, stock cubes and a couple of other bits came to £16.20 with postage. I will include this in Jan budget even though it will be used throughout the next few months.

Also £2.95 in Aldi on 2 butternut squash (for soup), eggs and 2 bottles of sparkling water.

Should only need fruit between now and pay day so we should be under :) Under budget in January - I can hardly believe it :j

Thank you thank you thank you OSers :T:T

It's the end of my month here (payday tomorrow) and I've come in just a couple of euros over budget, which is honestly not much short of a miracle!!
Thanks to everyone who posts - it's an inspirational thread.
Off to sign up for February.
    Trying to keep in budget.

    Meal plan for the week:
    Pizza (home made)
Thai curry and rice (I have paste in the fridge, various veg used)
Leek and egg delight (sort of a crustless quiche) and HM wedges
Singapore noodles (spicy noodles and veg using tikka paste)
Beet root tart (from River Cottage Veg I think)
Celeriac/swede bake - found a Nigel Slater recipe
Cabbage risotto (better than it sounds, honest!)

That will see us through til next Thurs. I will go to Aldi and Sainsbury's tomorrow on the way home to get supplies.

Feeling a bit blue tonight, OH is really not getting it about trying to be frugal and save. It feels like my wage is keeping us all going but anything he contributes I should be grateful for.

    Seriously considering separate bank accounts...

I am sure many people would, but as it is a meat product and may be as much as 5 years after the BB4 date, personally, i wouldn't.

Yes, all eaten and it was really nice.

Have I got that wrong then about tinned food. I thought I read that they keep forever really?
