  • Not sure on exact spends the last week as OH has been going to the shops but we are at ~£25 (I've overestimated slightly), need a few bits tonight and then I will post a monthly total, we seem to have come well under budget which I'm impressed with, will probably reduce it a bit next month and see if I can keep it going!

    Hello all :)

I haven't posted on here for just over a week now, have had a busy week but i've been keeping all my recipets so i know how much i've been spending. Got a long thread to catch up on this afternoon.

Since last posting i've managed 2 NSD that was literally because i couldnt get out of my house with the bad weather and being heavily pregnant. I havent set myself a target for NSD, but will be writing them down.

I didnt have alot of money until last Friday (payday) so last week me and DP managed on the food we had in the house.

Spent £5.56 in Mr T's on 16/01/13, looking back at the reciept now its was on things that i could have managed without like chocolate and magazines.

£17.43 again in Mr T's on 19/01/13, this was just a small top-up shop til we could go food shopping. Bought a really awful spaghetti carbonara ready meal with that shop, which was very much in date. Cooked it for the required time and the meat had this really foul smell about it like rotting flesh, i wanted to complain but DP told me not to :(

£7.74 on a large bag on cat litter from Pets at Home. DP changes cat litter with me being pregnant and he is very fussy about the cat litter brand, so i cant seem to make any savings here. I did have a 10% voucher given to me on my last shop so used that. Normal price £8.60.

£1 in the range on kitchen towels.

Weekly shop in Mr T's on 21/01/13 totalled £75.07. Having checked the reciept i realised i've been over-charged for nappies. Mr T currently have a baby event on with reductions on nappies and i had the same problem on 16/01/13 being overcharged on the nappies, luckily i was on self service at the time so i noticed and had somebody check for me. I will be taking these back as the same thing has happened again. I also went online and entered the reciept details for this shop to see if it would be cheaper elsewhere, this was over 24 hours ago and still haven't heard anything back. How long does it normally take for them to reply?

Anyway sorry for the long post after a week of absence. I am well over my budget for this month, but as its my first month i'm not too concerned as the budget was only an estimate and for February i have got these reciepts to go off. I will update my signature and set my new target for February now.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Think I might be over budget this month as have to buy food and cake ingredients for dd1's party , hopefully I'll only be a few pounds over. And I got a £1.08 tesco voucher doing their price check *yay* so that will help. And with some of the money I've saved I'm going to stock up on herbs and spices as all I have is pepper and ood cinnamon!
Looking forward to feb budget as I can start afresh and do my sums better!

Just to update spends since Saturday of £50 odd squids taking the total so far to £252.87. Ran out of some of the stuff I normally buy at Lid!, got them at Mr M instead and could have kicked myself, everything is so much more expensive. If you normally stick to the big 4, you could be wasting a lot of money.

Does anyone know if the Aldi vouchers are in Daily Mirror this Thursday or next? I know it's normally the last Thursday but wondered if they might do it this week as it is the last day of the month next Thursday.

I would like to know too as my shop is due Monday and would come in really handy

we dont have a lid! near us so i mostly do the weekly shop at morrys, but i do top up shops at farmf00ds and ald!. Mr T is my nearest but i find that very expensive -morrys seems cheaper compared to there.
wish we had a lid!, weve got a kwiksave thats been empty since Ts arrived, i'd love that to turn into a lid!l
