My plans for making banana bread and a sausage casserole when astray yesterday as we decided to go to see The H0bbit and get a takeaway on the way home (both out of our ents. budget).
I am finishing work early today but have no meat defrosted so will have sausasge and mash tonight and defrost some chicken to try my hand at a chicken and chorizo casserole in the slow cooker if I can find the recipe again that I found when googling at the weekend.
I will also put some jacket pots in when the oven is on for lunches and make a ginger cake as the bananas are still in the freezer. I might freeze half the ginger cake as I am away for a couple of days this week and DH wont think to eat it if I am not there.
I have done a meal plan for the next 2 weeks and I am going to try to come well within my budget this month as I have set myself a wee savings target. We do have a lot of food in and enough wine to last me weeks (but not DH) so it is very doable.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Can I join this challenge? I know we are half way through the month but need to do something to get my food spending under control x I have been spending around £600 per month which is way too much, need to try and manage on £50 per week so will say £300 for the month and not exceed that!Weightloss 2013 = 3lb/40lb

Went to tescos today (gosh it's expensive!) but wanted to get some fruit pots they sell which are cheaper.
Only needed a small shop and spent £22.14, £5.97 of that was on nappies! Have been trying to potty train dd2 on and off for over a year now but she suffers with constipation so it's difficult for her, going to try again in the feb half term.
Next week I need to get the food for dd1's birthday party, which hopefully shouldn't be too much (fingers crossed!)
Just updated my sig and done my sums and don't as much left as I thought I would , so I have £17.45 to spend before I go over my budget ( I really don't want to go over!) never mind, another 2 weeks then a new budget and I can start again ( and do my sums better!)GC September £69.64/£2000 -

Hi everyone, I've come up with a meal plan for this week to try and use up what we have instead of buying extras!
Monday - Ikea meatballs, yorkshire pudding, swede and carrot, mash, peas, ikea sauce
Tuesday - Roast turkey(xmas leftovers), gravy, yorkshire pudding, mash, swede and carrot, peas, sweetcorn, green beans
Wednesday - Turkey and veg soup, maybe with some pasta in it. Some kind of bread/sandwich thing with it(need to raid the freezer for bread!)
Thursday - Chicken Tikka(from a jar), with chickpeas in the sauce, with Rice, mini chicken samosas(party food) and mini naan breads
Friday - Tuna Pasta Bake with Salad
Saturday - Not Sure
Sunday - Not Sure
Don't really know what to make next weekend, I'm fed up of cooking the same things. Has anyone got any ideas for something really tasty and a bit different that feels like 'weekend food'(a treat)?
I have loads of chicken breasts, pasta, rice, most herbs and spices, passata, tinned sweetcorn etc if that helps
Going shopping on friday though so I can buy some stuff
But looking at the meals I've chosen so far, I'd only need to buy salad stuff!September Grocery Challenge £0/£2250 -
Still pretty snowed in, in my village. I can only get to the local co-op which now has no fresh meat, no eggs, no bread and very little milk!
Luckily I have all I need in the freezer and fridge, I just went there for a walk and to treat myself to a magazine!0
