Successful day, GC-wise - my first trip to A*di's!

Pleased at the prices but definitely couldn't get my whole shopping there due to the small selection. Did get:

    Whole milk 2litres 85p
    Butternut squash 49p
    1.5kg SR flour 55p
    Spaghetti 29p
    Penne 29p
    Bin bags 20s £1.49
    20 tampons 79p
    Tinned mackerel 69p
    Tinned peaches 29p
    Cream cheese 49p
    3 limes 69p
Plums £1.78 looking at it now I've been charged twice even though I only bought 1 pack of plums
    Tinned salmon £1.05
    Tinned tuna x2 £1.22
    Beans 33p
    White bread 47p
    Parmesan £2.85
    White baps 59p
    Salad x2 £1.48

Don't think I'll shop there every week as it's a bit of a trek, but if I can go every few weeks I'll be happy. Annoyed about being overcharged for plums though!

Didn't have a chance to get to Mr M afterwards so I have some things I need to get tomorrow - potatoes, coffee, chillies, ginger, some spices and a few other things.

Had a couple of friends over for a very frugal afternoon tea - served smoked salmon (from freezer) & cream cheese on bread (HM and from freezer), HM hummous on the same bread, HM orange drizzle cake and HM scones with HM jam. The only thing I needed to buy was the cream cheese! My friend brought banana bread and a chocolate chip bread and butter pudding, and we didn't have tea but cava instead as I had a bottle left from the other night, also brought by friends. So a super cheap celebratory meal :)

Chickpea curry from the freezer today and a nsd too.

Weighed out some bread flour into batches of 550 grams ready to pop into breadmaker when required. Much orefer not having to get the scales out each time, and when i guess the amount of bread flour to hse my loaves can tuen out quite cakey, which i dislike.

I don't think I'll hit my target this month. Already up to £86 and I have all three of my sons home next weekend. In fairness, it was a very optimistic target - roughly half what I would normally spend - but I thought it was realistic bearing in mind the amount I still had left in the freezer after Christmas.

I think I underestimated how much I spend on the dog's food, mixer and biscuits. Roughly £1 a day goes on the dog, so that's almost a third of my budget. Oh well, it will be close, and definitely better than a normal month, so it's still a good result.

I've meal-planned for next week, and the Monday after. It looks like quite a short shopping list.

But I've priced it at T@sco and it comess out at £30. Given I budget £60 a week I'm pleased with that.

I may manage to get to A!di tomorrow, weather dependent as I know that 5 out of the super 6 are on my shopping list. It's just that they are on my way home. I've really been very strict with myself to only shop after tea as otherwise I buy all sorts of junk.

I've got my shopping list printed out and priced. So I'll have a wander round A and see what I can find. Then it's T@sco after tea.

  • NSD here - but my Dad didn't come for dinner as he was worried about the snow forecast and not being able to get home - the snow never came and neither did he :-(

On the bright side we can now have sweet and sour chicken for tea tomorrow night as I had defrosted 6 chicken breasts for today and only ended up using 4.

For pudding we had the peach pudding which cost - including 7p savers custard - a grand total of 60p for the 5 of us and was delicious!!!

Really hope the snow doesn't come overnight as I need to get the kids to school, dentist and doctor tomorrow!!

Evening all, not been here for a while, very busy sorting out everything to fill in my tax return (yes I know I should have sorted it all earlier, but lesson def learned!!! :o) ). Nearly all done, probably won't be paying tax, but have savings standing by to pay if needed.

Up to 10 NSDs out of 18, may make it, not sure. Have spent £239.39, so just over £60 left for the next 11 days, going to be tight!!

Right, going to get back to my spreadsheets for another hour before bed. Have a good week everyone x

Yay. My week ends and despite 2 ridiculously tiny grocery totals for the previous 2 weeks, I still only spent a few pence over £27!!!!

    I'm well stocked again.

The crisp n dry 2 litres of rapeseed cooking oil is only £2 in asda. A quid a litre is awesome at the moment. Make sure you stock up.

I've got loads of chicken portioned up and in the freezer now. Stock saved for a soup tomorrow. Also got chicken in the fridge for a stir fry meal tomorrow with the bagged stir fry from asda for 10p tomorrow.

Bought 11 caulis at 10p each and have blanched 8 of them and they are now zip locked away in the freezer. I have kept 3 in the fridge for meals over the next few days.

I decided to use up my dried fruits in the pantry so have soaked them in tea that was steeping in mulling spices first. That's been sitting all day and will carry on overnight.

Hoping to try my hand at a tea bread tomorrow.

I'm pooped now. Its been a spring clean weekend and I've not had time to pick up my crochet :,(
At least some jobs have been done that were bugging me.

Tomorrow is mauling stuff to the charity shop and recycle points and dropping things off at friends' houses etc to sort out my clutter that needs to go.

I'm hoping the snow will clear so Incan do stuff. I really want to pick up wool from a freecycler and a sewing machine off preloved but the snow has kept me back.

Lets hope tomorrow the roads clear.

    Night night peeps :)
