I have a confession to make...I ran out of cinnamon so nipped to little tesco express but ended up spending £9!!!!

Then when I got home I got the spare sugar out of our 'spares' cupboard and found a jar of...cinnamon! Grrr

Oh well, our guest today enjoyed the homemade lasagne, value garlic bread & salad followed by honemade cinnamon pullapart loaf. I really didn't need to buy the back-up crumble i bought earlier!
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

  • Oops picked up some grocery stuff today amongst other sale shopping and didn't tally up what I'd spent :(. Think I spent £5 in sains. And oh, I remember, just under £20 in Mr T's.

So I'll count that as £25 gone already....off to update sig!

I'm in for... £325 for the month from 01.01.2013-31.01.2013 for 2 adults, 2 children and 5 cats for food, personal and household cleaning supplies.

I hope that by the end of the year, we'll be down to a reasonable £60 a week - especially if DD2 is potty trained during the day :D

  • I very much need to be in this challenge! My husband and I have just separated and i will be taking care of our daughter on my own. Belts will need to be tightened somewhat!! So just feeding myself and my (soon to be) 9 year old.... Shall we say £200 for the month and see how we do?? That is to include all cleaning/laundry materials etc but not cat food as i order that separately.

    I bought one a few months ago - made by M0rphy Rich@rds.

Can't say I'm greatly impressed with it though. The instructions are bit lacking (first I hit was that they don't say whether the water you add to frozen veg should be hot or cold for), but that one worked out OK apart from the fact I could still tell I'd used frozen carrots (which I hate the taste of!)

Then tried using fresh veg, but it's really hard to judge how much liquid I need to how much veg. And one (very big) portion of my version is too little for the machine, while running it at max barely makes enough to fill my food flask for work twice (cook up 2 lots, put one into flask and other into tub in fridge to reheat in pan and put into flask the next day). Doing this also means I need lots of space in my freezers for bags of prepped veg (one session of prepping is about enough for 10 portions) which takes more space than portions of made and blended soup.

I'd probably make more use of it if I were making soup every day for myself and an OH or a couple of kids to be eaten at home.

The one they got me is by Morphy Richards too, one of the jug ones. It came with a recipe book though it takes the guess work out of how much to put in it!

Was sent back with left overs so I'm good for not buying food for the moment!

I got the book, but haven't found it much use. Like I said, it doesn't even say whether the water should be hot or cold. I tend to use 'off the boil' to make sure it heats up enough.

Thanks Mossy! I'm lucky enough to be debt free but would love to cut down on the overspend and save up for more luxury items, holidays, second baby (at some point in the future!) and maybe even a wedding if I can convince the half to make an honest woman of me! Ha!

Just need some motivation to do it so that's why I'm here and looking forward to it!!

Spent a lot of today compiling tables for my shopping database which has been good fun, I want it up and working by 1st Jan for the challenge!! :)
