jumblejack that pie looks yummy!!

NSD, I've been using my new shopping list app on my phone and have made lists of the food I need from the different shops, have even put the prices in so that it gives me a total!! :D I have £16.50 to last me until the 19th Jan so if I'm sensible I should be fine. You never know I may even be able to pot one of my £2 coins.

My freezer was emptier than I realised though but have managed to meal plan around what's left. I'm about to use up my last two packs of DR mince, I hope they do another good offer on their 8 pack mince soon!! :o Might have to do a whoopsie trawl in next months budget too so that I can restock the freezer! ;)

    Happy Thursday everyone! :D
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

  • Absolutely frozen on the walk into work this morning so descended to going into the cafe for a hot bowl of soup, crusty roll (no butter or transfat spread) and a mug of steaming tea. £1.80.

Lunch was sliced pork, bread roll and salad (about £1.00).

Evening meal will be a chicken stir fry with a granary roll (about £1.00).

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow because will defrost some left overs from New Year's Day (spatchcock roasted partridge :D) - muesli for breakfast and noodles for lunch to peg my taste buds back a bit.

No entertainment expenditure spending yesterday, today or tomorrow because the week got off to a fiscally rocky start because of an employee leaving function. Just have enough left to fund 3 pints watching the football on Saturday afternoon.

BTW - for those feeling a bit unwell - I have been taking a very small amount of bicarbonate of soda with water morning and evening for my gout (because it alkalizes the bloodstream making the formation of uric acid crystals less likely), but one of the consequences my research has given me to understand is that this strengthens the immune system. I have not had a gout twinge or as much as a sniff of cold or novovirus for 7 months, while all around me have been dropping like lemmings.

Going hope to turn the central heating on.

    All the best

Another veg box to add to my total but haven't been out to shops so going to count as a NSD still.

Really pleased with my last on line shop as have hardly needed to buy any extra's so far and still have loads left in the cupboards, freezer.

Only thing I never seem to stock up enough is cereal and juice. I buy tesco value cereal and sometimes treat the kids to nicer ones if on offer. Know porridge would be far cheaper but its such a faff to make just for one and we all eat breakfast at different times so cant make one big pot. Anyone have any other ideas of cheap breakfasts bearing in mind I have a health problem which means it takes me half the morning to get going, so cooking bacon & eggs is a definite no-no!!?????

How about a big fruit salad made with in season or reduced fruit, then you can get it all prepared in the evening and just leave in the fridge for everyone to help themselves to in the morning.

Or you could make stewed apples, hopefully you could get some reduced ones?
You could jazz them up with
    - Sultanas/Raisins
    - Cinnamon/Mixed Spice
    - Raspberries/Frozen mixed fruit(sainsburys basics is very nice)

Or you could make stewed plums with star anise and vanilla extract(if you have them hanging around).

You could serve any of these with a big tub of natural yoghurt, some cheap honey, HM granola, museli, mixed nuts/seeds :)

Or just provide bread/crumpets/potato cakes/ready made pancakes for everyone to toast their own.

    Hope this helps :)

  • Just updated my signature. Got a Mrt. refund of £3 due to them overcharging. So whilst i was in my local town i had a look around the cheaper shops. I managed to get 2 x 9toilet rolls (nouvelle equivalent, i checked them before i bought them) for £2. Also a pack of 3 kitchen rolls for £1 (again a good quality one). Ive not added this to my signature as it was from the refunded money. I went into MrA. to have a scout round but couldnt find anything i wanted, although i managed to come out with a pack of Thorntons Christmas Cake Bars reduced from £1 to 34p. I thought i deserved a treat for doing so well resisting the other bargains in all the shops ive visitied today.
  • Decided to hit the supermarket on the way home today instead of tomorrow. Stock powder, corn chips, veg, milk, rapeseed oil. Got a couple of packs of noodles and stir fry sauce sachets as well as they were on special. €19.02 in total, and 6 NSDs so far this month.
Attempting to stay on track in the Grocery Challenge!
