Sooooo....looks like Wednesday my medication was making me feel manic, for want of a better word but that's the best way I can describe that little episode. Thursday I was on a complete down and had 0 energy. Today I have gone to get my haircut :D nice haircut ready for the wedding we're going to tomorrow, painted my nails although I've chipped one already so they need redoing eugh. OOOOOOHHHH the sofa has arrived :D I can't work out which arrangement I prefer it in though and it's definitely too big to put it in a straight line so has to go as a corner unit. I might go move it around once more before OH comes home, totally excited

  • Oh kerri I'm sorry to hear about all the family feuding :( it's really not what you need right now! I'd give all the baby stuff back too as I'd be fuming and so upset that it had come down to pettiness. It sounds to me like your sister may be a little jealous just a feeling but I guess to the outside world it may seem like you have it all sorted and why on earth should she make your life any easier by helping you out *jeez god forbid eh*

If buying your own though be warned babies grow very quickly out of sizes 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 only once they get a little older do the clothes end up being actually worn in so if I were you I'd be looking for a few nice bought outfits and the rest as bundles from ebay. After all every penny saved is an extra penny to put towards bigger things you may need.

The wedding plans sound lovely so how long till we need to buy some hats ;) I managed our wedding on £500 it was very low key and pretty awful as my family(who are worse than yours I think) were fighting at the time snd my dad, nan, aunt all made excuses not to come :( I was pregnant at the time and so hormonal so understandably very upset it ruined the whole day for me :( I hope your family have their heads banged together before yours and behave ;)

Lol DFW he's not going to ask until I can save almost £30k, I have it all planned out for £5k though. Pieminister catering, blues/jazz band, registry office and nice village hall, French wine for a booze cruise, and little one as a flower girl. I am not acing my sister as a bridesmaid.

I definitely agree that she's jealous, she is now talking about trying for a 3rd child and that her OH is going to propose, I'm convinced she can't and any attention being paid to me. She can't afford the two kids she does have.

Payday on onday, using our emergency funds for the wedding this weekend. £60 for the b&b then petrol and money for the bar, luckily I'm cheap as not drinking and mostly drink water anyway as too much sugar otherwise. Will limit how much OH can spend on booze too. I think £30 limit for him and I'll have £20 so he can pinch some off me if need be, prices are comparative to a pub apparently...hmmmm

  • Have fun at the wedding :)

Yep definitely sounds like jealousy to me! My mother had s similar situation when she was younger whereby every time she fell pregnant/moved home/bought a new car/ whatever my aunt (her younger sister) would go out of her way to get the same. I fell pg at 19 and my aunt was 36 at the time 3 months after my announcement guess who was pregnant with her 5th child all in the name of keeping up....unless of course it wss a complete coincidence that 5 of her kids were born within months of other family members (always a few months behind lol) I find that sort of behaviour odd and say you should leave your sister to it. She'll be the one who ends up broke and feeling unsatisfied (because she's too busy waiting to see what you're doing next) ...The situation with our family ended up with none of us talking since the last funeral. I'm happy with that as every time we did meet her and her kids would always try and make out that they were better than we were. It's my sons gsces next year and I'm happy there's no competition between him and my cousin now we're not talking so I will keep ig that way as long as I can ;)

AFGH the cake saga continues, I think I need to buy one of those oven thermometer thingys. I was up early this morning to clean the kitchen & bathroom and bake a cake as I met the lovely Brizzled today :) Unfortunately the cake sunk in the middle, then broke to pieces when I tried to take it out the tins. I have no idea what is going wrong but I don't think the oven thermometer is right. Anyway, I'm having a "no unnecessary spends" month this month, I need to put £500 to one side so I can buy the bits for the baby. So thermometers will have to wait!

I've updated my signature and am disappointed in myself that even though I got an extra £1k to pay off my debts last month, I've still spent way too much on various things :( So I'm on lockdown, I'm not allowed to spend anything that's not necessary. Any wants will have to wait until next month I'm afraid, although I will buy a garden fork from our joint account as OH wants one for the garden and we have the lovely rocket garden coming this week mmmm 100+ plants of yummy food, saving us a pretty penny in the long-term.

I've just had to ask Vanqu1s to raise a dispute regarding the jam jars I bought the other week, I've heard nothing from the company and the order is still pending. I think the company has probably stopped trading, just a shame I didn't use paypal or I could have clawed the £135 back quickly. Oh well, when that comes through it'll go straight back on the card anyway.

I'm hoping the pushchair we want has a good deal at the baby show at the end of the month and includes a first stage car seat, that'll reduce the amount of money we need to spend greatly :D We shall have to see though, although quite looking forward to taking OH to look at lots of baby bits. Would be even better if his inheritance comes through before then.

OH money update: he's sent off the letter to Wesc0t for a f&f, he's offered them just under £2k for a 7.5k debt, we're going to throw it back at them a couple of times to get the best deal possible hopefully.

There are only 4 paydays until the baby arrives and I haven't saved a penny :( I worked out I'd need about £3k saved, how I'm going to manage that and pay off my debts I have no idea. Fingers crossed for a miracle in my mentality and that I actually learn to stop spending, we shall have to see. I have listed a whole load of craft bits on my fleabay shop though, I so far have 11 listings of various different bits and I know I can increase that if I sit down and work out where all the different bits are. Fleabay is telling me if I sell all that I have on there then I'll have sold £1k+ that would be really nice to do.

Well after raising a dispute with the CC company yesterday the lady from the jam jar shop has called me bright and breezy this morning to apologise for the delay but their warehouse has been inundated with orders :D So my jam jars are going to arrive, I cannot for the life of me remember how many I ordered though and we've put together a list of people that need hampers this morning and it totals 10. We're going to make some small ones and some big ones, when I say "we" I obviously mean that the OH will help wrap them and critique my cooking whilst I do most of the hard work ;)

Today I am not allowed to do any online shopping except for the cats food. I keep having the urge to spend, but I'm going to be really good and try not to. Oh I do need to buy some bread mix for the breadmaker from Am4zon though, but that's grocery budget :D

    No unnecessary spends missy!

ETA: cat food ordered, bread mix ordered, and I've been super good and not bought anything for myself :) I have made two lists for our Christmas hampers, one is the small hamper and the other the large hamper. The large hamper contains everything that's in the small hamper plus extra bits. I worked out how many jars/bottles I'd bought and then decided on the items from there. I am going to toddle up the road when I go to the post office and get the pickling onions, as I keep meaning to but then forget whoops. Right, have done my shopping list for the food shop and shall now go get dressed so I can toddle off to the farm shop & probably Mr S for the few bits we need this week. I love that our store cupboard is full as it means we should spend very little. Going to try a different veggie soup recipe this week as the last one was disgusting, this time it's minestrone soup from BBC good food....I shall report back :D

Another edit: just spent £17 at the farm shop for most of this weeks veg, then £23 at the farm for a HUGE sack of potatos (25kg for £8.25), 3 bunches of beetroot (am now thinking that I can pickle these and give to people for Christmas, however I need more kilner jars), 4 bunches of carrots, a bag of swedes, a big bag of parsnips, and a 5kg bag of onions. I'm going to get the dehydrator working overtime on all of this lovely lot, and you've guessed it I'm going to need more kilner jars to store them in when they're dry. Most of that lovely lot will go in yummy homemade soups for throughout the winter yum yum yum. £50 in Mr S, I did spend £6 on coconut oil though, milk, cream, butter beans, spaghetti, more veg and loads of fruit as OH likes to have juices, oh and some big bottles of fresh juice at £2 for 1.75l and I bought enough butter to last a month whilst it was on special offer of £2.50 for 2. So nearly £100 spent, I must try harder.

Another update: a guilty one this time, have just bought an azada and a fork for the garden, the rocket garden is coming in the next 24-72hrs and I don't have enough dug ground for it to go in, so OH will need something to be able to dig the ground properly. Hopefully they'll arrive just before the garden does, hope none of it arrives whilst I'm in the office on Thursday though as that would be rather annoying. Right, off to make minestrone soup, but without the butter beans as they're still dried whoops.

Yay all my jam jars have arrived and I've checked quidc0, I have £54 due back to me in the next payment so I've used that plus £30 to buy myself a 22 quart pressure cooker. I know it's another expense, but it's garden related (honest!). It'll mean that we can make lots of yummy things from the fruit & veg that's going to grow in our garden and then store them in jars in a dark cupboard. Also, pressure cookers can be used to can things with a higher pH. With water baths you have to make sure the pH is below 4.5 otherwise things will go mouldy (OMG I'm turning into a geek!), however the pressure cooker allows you to make sauces, baby food, whatever you like really and store it in jars somewhere dark without it going off. I now have visions of making yummy rice pudding in the slow cooker and instead of freezing it, canning it in lovely jars for the baby in the dark cupboard, amazing.

Tomorrow night I am going to start the process for pickling the onions I bought yesterday, I can't do them today as I need to be in the office tomorrow so won't be able to do the last bit. Best to leave it until I have some time to complete the whole process :) At least the various things I have bought for the kitchen get used though, I'm about to go and use the m4gimix to chop up the carrots I bought yesterday, then I'm going to use the dehydrator to dehydrate the carrot chips so they can be slung into slow cooker soups :D I might even do some parsnips if I have any trays leftover.

Gosh I got so carried away talking about cooking that I forgot to say, I've just sent some messages to people on gumtr33 about some chest freezers, one is a 4 drawer freezer and the other is a really old looking chest freezer. Both cost £30 or under which is a maHoosive difference to the £300 I have been looking at brand new. I shall keep checking back to see if there are any others because I'd rather that money was in our pockets than someone elses.

I haven't made any CC payments as yet, but I am determined to reduce the amount of money I spend this month. How hard can it be anyway?
