Not so much a tip, but I always give the pharmacist and his staff a box of chocolates, as I find they can be more helpful than the doctors surgery!! Another person I give chocolates to is the lollypop ladies that do my area. They are out in all weathers and take their life in their hands some day with some of the muppets on the roads. And when my children are old enough to walk to school themselves, they will be my spies!!!!

Good point, our pharmacist has been brilliant with the DD's medication. Might hand in a box of chocs for the girls.

  • I don't tip anyone at Christmas. I always tip the hairdresser and if we go out for a meal with colleagues and friends I'll leave a tip, but not for the postie etc..

I tip the milkman - they are amazing - even during the horrendous cold weather last year I got my milk! even when the roads were impassible! still dont know how he managed it!
the bin men - I might if I had the faintest chance of catching them! Think the 'Night Bus' in Harry Potter, one second its in the street - then its gone!
no paper boy, no hairdresser - hmmm Postie, well the regular one is ok, but the other one is a numpty! appears to be dyslexic and I have to go post my post in the correct houses and hope that anything delivered to them in error actually gets to me.

I've noticed the bins have started being put back next to the back fence rather than 50 yards down the road - are they expecting a tip? I won't bother - I'm still horrified that they need an ipad on their round to keep check.

Hairdresser - If anyone has braved the mop on my head they deserve a decent tip.

Postman - I rarely see him, no I won't tip.

I tip our current postman every Christmas. He's has been delivering in our village for the last four years - and he's a wonder!

    He knows where we live!

Before him we relied on the goodness of neighbours. Hoping they'd pass on our post.

Due to my schedule, I walk through our Postie's route every morning. He always asks if I'd like to take any items that need a signature or he knows will not fit though my letter box.

Such a Postie deserves a Christmas box!
  • :money: hope everyone who gets the papers delivered by kids on bikes tip!
Both my 2 get up early before school to do a round come rain or shine!
It's a real treat for them to get Xmas tips , or chocs!
It's my eldest 3rd Xmas and youngest 1st so they will be popping cards in with the papers and see if they anything back,,,,however they do not EXPECT it , nor would they be late / miss out anyone who didn't as they would be sacked,! :money:

I thought it was against the council rules to tip binmen. I remember years ago getting something from the council to that effect and since then they stopped knocking on the door saying 'compliments of the season'. I would tip our current postman as he is very good and will stop to have a chat but we get so many different ones that I don't know when he will be delivering.
If we had papers delivered then I'd definitely tip the paperboy/girl as my son was delighted when he got tips. He didn't knock on any doors like some of the others but people actually looked out for him and gave him tips which I thought was really nice.
