You'll be looking at £15-£20+, if that's too much see if you can get one of them blue plastic oil drums for free and modify it0 -
Try you local water board, I just got mine today delivered via YW (blackwall) inc stand, lid, water pipe attachment, del £39.990

I would probably suggest freecycle first, although my area freecycle has a rule about wanted add and highly desireable items (huh?) are not allowed to be asked for  I never knew that a water butt was such a desirable item.
I also looked on the website of my water supplier, but they do not have any themselves, but recommend a company who's water butts were well in excess of £35, so i ordered one from Tesco direct and got a code for £5 off, so got free delivery and a few £ off tooShould be here tomorrow!

Whilst I agree with you there is an environmental cost to manufacturing a plastic water butt and transporting it too.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
If it doesn't make financial or environmental sense, I will settle for the fact that plants prefer rain water over tap water, plus as my outside tap is at the front of the house, it will save me traipsing back and forth through my kitchen with 2 watering cans.0

Lucky you, only the kitchen? I have to traipse through the whole length of the house with my watering can several times...
The plastic for waterbutts is usually recycled plastic and surely although it might take a while for a waterbutt to earn it's cost back then it's better for the plants to have rain water and 10,000 litres or whatever is water than we might be greatful off if we have yet another shortage in the resevoirs... It would certainly take some pressure of the systems if we all had a waterbutt I am sureDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0
