  • gosh, thanks everyone for the lovely wishes and ideas.

you have to apply/be interviewed/have crb etc to join bank or agency nursing,so too late.

am looking into charity work for some of the day, then cocoon up with nibbles, baileys and remote control for rest of the day.

wish my family were as thoughtful as my MSE pals.

good health, wealth and happiness to you all.

and if there is anyone else else out there facing this,we should all meet on here on the day! :)

ps. to those who think i'm a great mum, i'm half wishing i'd said "no,you're flipping well staying with me!" so,no halo to polish here!

Yeah, but you didn't actually say it - so halo firmly in place as far as I am concerned:A - you felt sad but still put your son's needs first. Very very unselfish of you.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

  • Im looking forward to Crimbo alone this year.
I have new crimbo pjs to wear, Venison for lunch and Im gonna slob about and drink red wine...!
  • I'm creating my own Christmas alone tradition of just heading out on the bike. The roads are empty and if it's ice free I plan to try and knock out 100 miles if there's enough daylight.
  • Hi op,

Again, I do not know where you live, but I know in Burnley lcoal charities / Central Methodist church are cooking dinner for lots of people who would not have Christmas Dinner / be alone, and they are always asking for volunteer, ...from those that did it last year, there was a real feeling of community spirit about the day, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
This last time I had christmas alone I decided to really treat myself and booked into a hotel for the day. I bought new pjs and nice new bath treats. I packed up all the things I wanted to eat and drink and really pamered myself for the day and had the added bonus of ordering breakfast in bed for boxing day.

I was worried I would feel lonley checking in on my own but I really did have one of my best christmas's ever and got to have a lovely late christmas with a daughter a couple of days later.

That is a good point ......rather than MISS Christmas day you could move it and have the best of both worlds .....and he has two Christmases.

    MSE Florida wedding .....no problem
  • Oooh I love the hotel idea!!! Means you aren't sat at home and tempted to bring out the hoover etc. Call in room service and buy yourself a pair of new pjs :-)
